Þorgils gjallandi (1 June 1851 – 23 June 1915) was an Icelandic author born in the hamlet of Skútustaðir by Mývatn, a lake in the Skútustaðahreppur rural municipality. His name at birth was Jón Stefánsson, but he adopted the name "Þorgils gjallandi" as his ''nom de plume''. The name is taken from the epic Egils Saga. Jóhann Hafstein
Jóhann Hafstein (Akureyri, 19 September 1915 – 15 May 1980) was elected to the Althingi for Reykjavík (Althing constituency), Reykjavík in 1946, which he represented until 1978. Jóhann was prime minister of Iceland from 10 July 1970 to 14 July 1971, for the Independence Party (Iceland), Independence Party. Member of the Althingi 1946–1978. Hafstein was Speaker of the Lower House of the Althingi 1959–1961 and 1962–1963. He was CEO of the Fisheries Bank from 1952 to 1963. He served as Minister of Justice, Religion and Industrial Affairs, as well as handling the Health portfolio in 1961 and again in 1963–1970. He attended the General Assembly of the United Nations in 1953, 1959 and 1974. Magni Grenivík
Magni Grenivík is an Icelandic sports club from the village of Grenivík, mainly known for its football team. The club has a football team currently playing in the second tier of Icelandic football also known as Inkasso-deild karla. Magni was founded in 1915 by Magnús Björnsson making it one of the oldest teams in Icelandic football history. Stadium Magni play their matches at Grenivíkurvöllur but also play at Boginn in Akureyri if the pitch condition is poor as is common during the preseason. Seating and the new facilities were installed at Grenivíkurvöllur due to their promotion to the second tier of Icelandic football. The amount of seats are approximately 360 with plenty of space around the field as well. There is also a smaller field on the east side of the main field which is mostly used by the future stars for practice. Þór Akureyri
Íþróttafélagið Þór, commonly known as Þór Akureyri, simply Þór or Thór, is a multi-sport club in Akureyri, Iceland. It features departments in Basketball, football, Handball and Taekwondo. Its main rivals is another sport club from Akureyri named KA. Þór and KA merged their handball clubs to form Akureyri Handboltafélag before the 2006–07 handball season in Iceland, resulting in some fans disowning the merged team. Einar Arnórsson
Einar Arnórsson (24 February 1880 – 29 March 1955) was an Icelandic politician, lawyer and law professor. He was the minister for Iceland from 4 May 1915 to 4 January 1917. Biography Einar was born in Minna-Mosfell in Grímsnes to Arnór Jónsson and Guðrún Þorgilsdóttir. He graduated in law from the University of Copenhagen in 1906. He was elected to Althingi and sat there in 1914–1919 and 1931–1932 for the Independence party. He was Minister of Education and Justice in Björn Þórðarson's cabinet from 1942 to 1944. He was professor of law at the University of Iceland from 1911 to 1915 and again after leaving office as Minister for Iceland from 1917 to 1922. He was a Supreme Court Judge in 1932–1942 and again in 1944–1945. He was Rector of the University of Iceland in 1918–1919 and 1929–1930. For a short time he was father-in-law to Halldór Laxness.
