Abdul Ghani Saheb Saudagar
Nawab Abdul Ghani Saheb (1843-1897) was a notable figure in the western Indian city of Kolhapur, located in the state of Maharashtra. He is described as having been a very enterprising trader and businessman, investing his time and wealth in developmental activities. In addition to his entrepreneurial life, Sahab engaged in services for both his community and his home country. Nawab Saheb was also involved with the establishment of educational opportunities for his fellow citizens, and in the year 1290 Hijri (1873 CE), he established a "dini madrasa" (an Islamic school, imparting education in Arabic, Islamic Studies, Persian and History) that was subsequently named the Madrasa Nawabia Islamia. Nawab Saheb was a prolific businessman and was eventually awarded a Certificate by the Resident State of Hyderabad on behalf of the British monarchy, then under the reign of Queen Victoria. Chittaranjan Das
Chittaranjan Das (5 November 1870 – 16 June 1925), popularly called ''Deshbandhu'' (Friend of the Nation), was an Indian freedom fighter, political activist and lawyer during the Indian independence movement and founder-leader of the Swaraj Party in undivided Bengal during the period of British colonial rule in India. His name is abbreviated as C. R. Das. He was closely associated with a number of literary societies and wrote poems, apart from numerous articles and essays. Sahana Devi ( bn, সাহানা দেবী) (1897–1990) was an Indian singer, she was a widely listened to singer of Rabindra Sangeet. She was the niece of Deshbandhu Chittaranjan Das. Career She was born into an illustrious Bengali Brahmo family and had distinguished array of men and women in her paternal and maternal sides. Sohrab Merwanji Modi (2 November 1897 – 28 January 1984) was an Indian stage and film actor, director and producer. His films include ''Khoon Ka Khoon'' (1935), a version of Shakespeare's ''Hamlet'', '' Sikandar'', ''Pukar'', ''Prithvi Vallabh'', ''Jhansi ki Rani'', ''Mirza Ghalib'', Jailor and ''Nausherwan-E-Adil'' (1957).
