Felix Hamrin
Felix Teodor Hamrin (14 January 1875 – 27 November 1937) was a Swedish politician. He was the leader of the liberal Freeminded People's Party and served as Prime Minister of Sweden from August to September 1932. Hamrin was born in Mönsterås in Kalmar County. His father was a dealer in leather. He married Elizabeth "Lizzie" Pennycock in 1900. They had seven children. After studying at a business school in Gothenburg, he ran a wholesaling business in Jönköping from 1903 to 1930. He entered the Riksdag at the young age of 37, and under Carl Gustaf Ekman he served as Minister of Commerce and Industry from 1926 to 1928 and as Minister of Finance from 1930 to 1932. When Ekman was forced to resign shortly before the elections in 1932 due to the Kreuger crash, Hamrin became prime minister. Martina Von Schwerin
Martina von Schwerin, née ''Martina Törngren'' (3 January 1789 in Gothenburg – 18 November 1875 in Gothenburg), was a Swedish Lady of letters, salonist and culture personality. She is known for her correspondence with A. S. de Cabre, Carl Gustaf von Brinkman and Esaias Tegnér, and has been called "Tegnérs biktmoder" (The Confessor of Tegnér). Martina von Schwerin was renowned in contemporary Sweden for her intellectual gifts and was referred to as "The Swedish Madame de Stael". Life Martina von Schwerin was the daughter of the director of the Swedish East India Company, Martin Törngren and Eva Lovisa Svartlock, and married in 1805 to the courtier Baron Verner Gottlob von Schwerin. She had a daughter by the same name, Martina von Schwerin (1809–1839), who became a writer. Her marriage was arranged and unhappy, and she is described as patiently suffering. Maria Röhl
Maria Christina Röhl (26 July 1801 – 5 July 1875) was a Swedish portrait artist. She made portraits of many of the best known people in Sweden in the first half of the 19th century. Her paintings are exhibited at the Nationalmuseum in Stockholm. The Swedish Royal library has a collection of 1800 portraits by her. She was a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Arts (1843) and an official portrait artist of the royal court. Biography Maria Röhl was born in Stockholm in a well-off family. She was the daughter of the consul Jacob Röhl and Maria Christina Kierrman and sister of educator Gustafva Röhl (1798–1848). After the death of their parents in 1822, she first worked as a governess. Sophia Isberg
Helena Sophia Isberg (18 February 1819 – 28 February 1875) was a Swedish wood-cut artist. Also known as ''Jungfru Isberg'' (Maiden Isberg). Helena Isberg was born at Säby in Tranås in Småland. She moved with her parents and brother to Motala in 1840, where she lived her entire life. Her father was a cabinet maker. Isberg was tutored by her father to cabinet maskery, lathing and carving, and was to become famous for her wood carving. In 1847, her work was exhibited in Stockholm, and made a success. She was asked to move to Stockholm, the professor Carl Gustaf Qvarnström (1810–1867) offered her a scholarship to study at the Royal Swedish Academy of Arts, Queen Josephine offered her an allowance of $200, but she declined every offer. Nelly Thüring
Nelly Maria Thüring (21 June 1875, in Vankiva – 2 January 1972, in Enskede), was a Swedish photographer and politician (Social Democrat). She was one of the first five women elected to the Swedish parliament in 1921. Biography Thüring was born the daughter of the farmer Nils Nilsson and Pernilla Persdotter in Vankiva, Sweden on 21 June 1875. She married the editor Johan Göransson in 1903, and divorced him in 1917. She took the name Thüring when she became active as a photographer. She was a shop clerk in 1890-96 and thereafter a photographer 1896–1933. In 1900, she opened a photo studio in Lund. In 1920 she sold the studio to focus solely on her political career. She was a member of the city council of Gothenburg in 1917–1920. In 1921, she became one of the five first women to be elected to the Swedish Parliament after women were allowed to vote.
