C. Shane Reese
Christopher Shane Reese is an American statistician, academic administrator, and 14th president of Brigham Young University (BYU). At BYU, he previously served as Academic Vice President (AVP), dean of the College of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, and as the Melvin W. Carter professor of statistics. Academic career Reese has bachelor's and master's degrees from BYU and a doctorate from Texas A&M University. Reese has done studies using statistical models to predict what will happen to nuclear weapons. In 2013, Reese was made an association fellow of the American Statistical Association. Reese has also done solar storm mapping, whale activity mapping and many studies applying statistics to sports. He received BYU's Young Scholar Award in 2004 and the BYU Karl G. Brigham Young University
Brigham Young University (BYU, sometimes referred to colloquially as The Y) is a private research university in Provo, Utah. It was founded in 1875 by religious leader Brigham Young and is sponsored by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church). BYU offers a variety of academic programs including those in the liberal arts, engineering, agriculture, management, physical and mathematical sciences, nursing, and law. It has 186 undergraduate majors, 64 master's programs, and 26 doctoral programs. The ''Daily Herald'' is a daily newspaper that covers news and community events in Utah County, central Utah. Much of the coverage focuses on the Provo-Orem metropolitan area in Utah Valley. The ''Daily Herald'' is owned by Ogden Newspapers. The paper has a daily circulation of 32,000, with a Thursday circulation of 42,000 and a Sunday circulation of 36,000.
