C.D. Marathón
Club Deportivo Marathón is a Honduran professional association football, football club based in San Pedro Sula. Founded on 25 November 1925, Marathón currently plays in the Liga Nacional de Fútbol Profesional de Honduras. History Club Deportivo Marathón was founded on 25 November 1925 in San Pedro Sula by Eloy Montes and a group of his friends. Ever since, Marathón has become one of the most prestigious clubs in Honduras, winning multiple titles. Club Deportivo Marathón has its own sporting venue that has different fields for the first team all the way to the lower youth levels, and even a tennis cement based foosball lit for night games. Portulaca Oleracea
''Portulaca oleracea'' (common purslane, also known as little hogweed, or pursley) is an annual (actually tropical perennial in USDA growing zones 10–11) succulent in the family Portulacaceae. Description The plant may reach in height. It has smooth, reddish, mostly prostrate stems and the leaves, which may be alternate or opposite, are clustered at stem joints and ends. The yellow flowers have five regular parts and are up to wide. Depending upon rainfall, the flowers appear at any time during the year. The flowers open singly at the center of the leaf cluster for only a few hours on sunny mornings. The tiny seeds are formed in a pod, which opens when the seeds are mature. Purslane has a taproot with fibrous secondary roots and is able to tolerate poor soil and drought. The fruits are many-seeded capsules. Flavio Ortega
Flávio Ortega (1944 – 6 February 2007) was a Brazilian football player and manager, who spent most of his career in Central America, mainly in Honduras. Club career Ortega was a Brazilian footballer who started playing in 1962 and moved abroad to play in El Salvador. He came to Honduras in 1968. He played for Real España and Marathón of San Pedro Sula, rising to become an important player for both clubs. Ortega was the Honduran league's leading goal-scorer with 18 goals for Marathón in the 1969–70 season. He scored 45 goals in the Honduran league in 110 matches. Managerial career After he retired from playing, Ortega managed the Honduras national football team at the 1991 CONCACAF Gold Cup finals, leading Honduras to a second-place finish. Óscar Ramón Vargas (born 1980) is a Honduran former footballer. Club career Playing as a forward, Óscar Vargas debuted in Honduran football with Marathón in 2002. He was the revelation of the championship by scoring the fourth goal in the victory 4-1 of his team against Olimpia, in the first leg of the final of the 2001-02 Clausura. Estadio Olímpico Metropolitano is a multi-purpose stadium in San Pedro Sula, Honduras. It is currently used mostly for football matches and also has facilities for athletics. It has a capacity of 37,325. History It was built in 1997 for the sixth edition of the Central American Games held there. This stadium was built by Jerónimo Sandoval, mostly known by "Chombo Sandoval", he was the organizer of the 1997 Central American Olympic Games in San Pedro Sula, which caused many controversies. Germán Enrique Centeno Reneau, known as “Quique” Renau (9 April 1971 – 23 August 2015) was a Honduran football player. Club career A lightning fast striker and nicknamed ''El Esquilete'' (the Stilletto) or ''La Gacela'' (the Gazelle), Reneau started his career at Victoria where he debuted in 1989. He went on to score 37 goals with Victoria between 1990 and 1996, as well in 2000.
