Club Deportivo Guadalajara (); often simply known as Guadalajara () and their nickname ''Chivas'' (), is a Mexican professional football club based in Zapopan, Jalisco. Guadalajara is one of the ten founding members of the Mexican First Division and along with Club América is one of only two teams that have never been relegated to the second-tier division. Guadalajara is the only football club in Mexico that does not allow foreign players to play for their club. The team has constantly emphasized home-grown (''cantera'') players and has been the launching pad of many internationally successful players, including, Javier Hernández, Carlos Vela and Carlos Salcido. Campeonísimo
Campeonísimo was the title given to exceptional champions in Mexican football from 1907 to 1996, who won both the Copa MX and the League title on the same year. History In the early Mexican championships, the clubs used to play a yearly tournament. The professional era began in Mexico in 1944, but there was a tournament that had been played since the early 1900s, the Copa Mexico, also known as the Tower Cup. A club that won both the Copa Mexico and the League title would then be known as campeonísimos. There are only five clubs who achieved this. Club León was the first to obtain this prestigious title in 1949. Guadalajara obtained theirs in 1957 Cruz Azul achieved this in the 1969–1970 championships. Carlos Salcido
Carlos Arnoldo Salcido Flores (; born 2 April 1980) is a Mexican former professional footballer. He started his career as a centre-back and played most of it as left-back, then converted to defensive midfielder and ended it as centre-back. He won the 2012 Olympic gold medal. After emerging through Guadalajara's youth system, he went on to be a mainstay for PSV Eindhoven, acting as vice-captain for the Dutch team and was the first player from Mexico to be champion in the Eredivise. Salcido also played a season for Fulham before returning to Mexico with Tigres UANL. In 2014 he returned to Guadalajara, winning the league title with the club in 2017. Salvador Reyes Monteón
Salvador Reyes Monteón (September 20, 1936 – December 29, 2012) was a Mexican professional footballer. He played for Guadalajara with 122 goals and 7 championships. Reyes won his first championship in 1957, from then on the club became unstoppable, winning six more titles. He was the last member from the club to win Campeon de Goleo (Goal scorer champion) until Omar Bravo won it on April 28, 2007 with 11 goals. It had been 45 years since a player from Guadalajara won the Campeon de Goleo. Edgar Everaert
Edgar Everaert (born in Bruges, Belgium) was the founder of Club Deportivo Guadalajara. Everaert arrived in Mexico in 1904 and obtained a job at the store Casa Comercial L.
