Büyükeceli
Büyükeceli is a neighbourhood in the municipality and district of Gülnar, Mersin Province, Turkey. Its population is 2,529 (2022). Before the 2013 reorganisation, it was a town (''belde''). Geography Büyükeceli had been founded on the southern slopes of Toros Mountains. It is near to Mediterranean coast () and recent housing of the town is almost at the seaside. It is on the Mersin Antalya highway. The highway distance to Gülnar is and to Mersin is . Economy The main economic activity is agriculture. Tomato, cucumber and aubergine are the most important crops. Fishing and animal husbandry are among the other activities. Nuclear plant Akkuyu nuclear power plant is being built near Büyükeceli. A hotel in the area, known as the Günaştı Sunset Hotel, had to be sold and shut down due to the proximity to what would be the nuclear plant. Human Chain Against Nuclear Plant In Turkey
The Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant ( tr, Akkuyu Nükleer Güç Santrali) is the only large nuclear power plant in Turkey and is under construction at Akkuyu, in Büyükeceli, Mersin Province. It is expected to generate around 10% of the country's electricity when completed. In May 2010, Russia and Turkey signed an agreement that a subsidiary of Rosatom would build, own, and operate a power plant at Akkuyu comprising four 1,200 MWe VVER1200 units. Construction of the first reactor has commenced in April 2018. In February 2013, Russian nuclear construction company Atomstroyexport (ASE) and Turkish construction company Özdoğu signed the site preparation contract for the proposed Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant. The contract includes excavation work at the site. The official launch ceremony took place in April 2015, and the first unit is expected to be completed in 2023. Mersin Province
Mersin Province ( tr, ), formerly İçel Province ( tr, ), is a province in southern Turkey, on the Mediterranean coast between Antalya and Adana. The provincial capital and the biggest city in the province is Mersin, which is composed of four municipalities and district governorates: Akdeniz, Mezitli, Toroslar and Yenişehir. Gülnar
Gülnar is a district of Mersin Province of Turkey, south-west of the city of Mersin. Geography The town of Gülnar is inland on a plain high in the Taurus Mountains, attractive countryside known for its vineyards and its green meadows used for summer grazing. Gülnar is a small town providing high schools and other basic amenities to the surrounding villages.(Town population. 8 357) The road from central Anatolia to Anamur on the Mediterranean coast passes through here, one of the windiest roads imaginable, making Gulnar a remote district indeed. D.400 is an east–west state road in southern Turkey. The road starts at Datça in the southwest corner of the Anatolian peninsula. The road ends at the Iranian border at Esendere. Toros Mountains
The Taurus Mountains (Turkish language, Turkish: ''Toros Dağları'' or ''Toroslar'') are a mountain range, mountain complex in southern Turkey, separating the Mediterranean Region, Turkey, Mediterranean coastal region from the central Anatolia#Anatolian plateau, Anatolian Plateau.
