Bülach Railway Station
Bülach railway station (german: Bahnhof Bülach) is a railway station in the Swiss canton of Zürich and municipality of Bülach. It is located at the junction of the Winterthur to Koblenz and Oerlikon to Bülach lines of Swiss Federal Railways. Bülach is an example of a ''Keilbahnhof'': platforms 1–3 are located on the Oerlikon–Bülach line to the west of the station, while platforms 4–6 are located on the Winterthur–Koblenz line, to the east. The two lines join immediately north of the station facility. Services Bülach station is served by Zürich S-Bahn lines S3, S9, S36 and S41; as well as an hourly RegioExpress (RE) service between Zürich and Schaffhausen (via Oerlikon). The S9 connects Zürich and Rafz/Schaffhausen, using the Bülach-Regensberg Railway south of Bülach and the Eglisau-Neuhausen railway line north of , passing through German territory. The S3 is a regional railway service of the Zürich S-Bahn on the Zürcher Verkehrsverbund (ZVV), the Zürich transportation network. It is operated by Swiss Federal Railways. Oerlikon (Zürich)
Oerlikon is a quarter in the northern part of the city of Zürich, Switzerland. A formerly independent municipality, Oerlikon was merged with Zürich in 1934 and forms today, together with Affoltern and Seebach, the city district 11. History The name Oerlikon goes back to the Alemannic settlement founder Orilo. Oerlikon was mentioned for the first time in the year 946 (other source: 942) as ''Orlinchowa''. RegioExpress
RegioExpress (RE) is a fast regional train service in Switzerland, run by Swiss Federal Railways (SBB CFF FFS) or other railway companies (such as TILO, BLS, tpf, transN, THURBO or RhB). It is comparable to the Regional-Express in Germany, Austria and Luxembourg. Its speed is considerably faster than regional trains at the same level, as it does not stop at all stations served by the regional trains. Nonetheless, it is slightly slower than InterRegio trains. Swiss Federal Railways describes the trains as ones that serve "rapidly into the regions".
