Byron Wade
Byron Wade is the Vice Moderator of the 218th General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (USA). Biography Wade received his undergraduate degree at the University of the Redlands in California. He also holds an M.A. from the Presbyterian School of Christian Education, an M.Div. from Johnson C. Smith Theological Seminary and a D.Min. from McCormick Theological Seminary. List Of Moderators Of The General Assembly Of The Presbyterian Church (USA)
The office of the Moderator of the General Assembly is the highest elected position in the Presbyterian Church (USA). The Moderator is responsible for presiding over the meeting of the General Assembly, which was held annually until 2004, and on alternate years since. After the meeting, which lasts for about a week, the Moderator serves as an ambassador of the denomination throughout the remainder of the term. After completing the term, most former Moderators take on the role of a church statesman or stateswoman. The Presbyterian Church (USA), abbreviated PC(USA), is a mainline Protestant denomination in the United States. It is the largest Presbyterian denomination in the US, and known for its liberal stance on doctrine and its ordaining of women and members of the LGBT community as elders and ministers. The PC(USA) was established by the 1983 merger of the Presbyterian Church in the United States, whose churches were located in the Southern and border states, with the United Presbyterian Church in the United States of America, whose congregations could be found in every state. The similarly named Presbyterian Church in America is a separate denomination whose congregations can also trace their history to the various schisms and mergers of Presbyterian churches in the United States. Bruce Reyes-Chow
Bruce Reyes-Chow is an American Teaching Elder (minister) of the Presbyterian Church (USA). Reyes-Chow received his BA in Asian American Studies, Sociology and Religion from San Francisco State University in 1990 and received his Masters of Divinity in 1995 from San Francisco Theological Seminary. He was the pastor of Covenant Presbyterian Church in San Francisco from 1995 to 1999 and from 2000 to 2011 he served as the founding pastor of Mission Bay Community Church in the SOMA District San Francisco, California, described as a new kind of start-up. Presbyterianism is a part of the Reformed tradition within Protestantism that broke from the Roman Catholic Church in Scotland by John Knox, who was a priest at St. Giles Cathedral (Church of Scotland).
