Byron Davies
Henry Byron Davies, Baron Davies of Gower (born 4 September 1952) is a Conservative Party politician and life peer. He has been serving as a Lord in Waiting since September 2022. Early life and career Byron Davies was born in Port Eynon, Gower and educated at Gowerton Boys’ Grammar School. He was a police officer in London before his selection as a Welsh Conservative Assembly candidate. While in the police he attained senior rank as a detective in the Metropolitan Police Service. Political career On 7 May 2015, he was elected the Member of Parliament for Gower at the 2015 general election. Previously elected as a member of National Assembly for Wales, on 9 May 2015, (shortly after the Westminster election) he decided to step down as an Assembly Member so that he could fulfill his parliamentary duties for Gower. David Lloyd (Welsh Politician)
David Rees "Dai" Lloyd (born 2 December 1956 in Tywyn, Gwynedd) is a retired Welsh politician and GP. He was the Plaid Cymru Member of the Senedd for South Wales West from 1999 to 2011 and again between 2016 and 2021. Lloyd was latterly Plaid Cymru's Shadow Secretary for Culture and Infrastructure, as well as being Chair of the Plaid Cymru Senedd Group and Chair of the Senedd Health, Social Care, and Sport Committee. South Wales West (National Assembly For Wales Constituency)
South Wales West () is an electoral region of the Senedd, consisting of seven constituencies. The region elects 11 members, seven directly elected constituency members and four additional members. The electoral region was first used in 1999, when the National Assembly for Wales was created. Each constituency elects one Member of the Senedd by the first past the post electoral system, and the region as a whole elects four additional or top-up Members of the Senedd, to create a degree of proportional representation. The Welsh Conservatives ( cy, Ceidwadwyr Cymreig) is the branch of the United Kingdom Conservative Party that operates in Wales. At Westminster elections, it is the second most popular political party in Wales, having obtained the second-largest share of the vote at every general election since 1931. Gower Peninsula
Gower ( cy, Gŵyr) or the Gower Peninsula () in southwest Wales, projects towards the Bristol Channel. It is the most westerly part of the historic county of Glamorgan. In 1956, the majority of Gower became the first area in the United Kingdom to be designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Until 1974, Gower was administered as a rural district. It was then merged with the county borough of Swansea. From 1974 to 1996, it formed the Swansea district. Since 1996, Gower has been administered as part of the unitary authority of the City and County of Swansea. Since its establishment in 1999, the Gower Senedd constituency has only elected Labour members. Port Eynon
Port Eynon (also spelt Port Einon, Porth Einon in Welsh) is a village and Community (Wales), community within the City and County of Swansea, Wales, located on the far south tip of the Gower Peninsula within the designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The A4118 road, A4118 from Swansea city centre terminates here. The community has its own elected community council, and had a population of 597 in 2011. and includes the hamlet of Llanddewi. Life Peer
In the United Kingdom, life peers are appointed members of the peerage whose titles cannot be inherited, in contrast to hereditary peers. In modern times, life peerages, always created at the rank of baron, are created under the Life Peerages Act 1958 and entitle the holders to seats in the House of Lords, presuming they meet qualifications such as age and citizenship.
