Bye-Bye Liberty - Close Call!
is the first television special in the '' Lupin III'' franchise. Directed by veteran director Osamu Dezaki, it was broadcast by NTV on April 1, 1989. A number of ''Lupin III'' television specials have followed with a total of 28 airing as of November 2019, including a crossover special with '' Detective Conan''. Plot Lupin is forced to give up his life of crime when he encounters Michael, a young boy who demonstrates that police computers are able to predict his every move. His retirement is short-lived when his colleague Jigen learns the location of the giant diamond called the Super Egg which was stolen from the Three Masons, a sinister secret society. The Egg is hidden in the Statue of Liberty and Lupin helps recover the diamond by stealing the entire Statue. Meanwhile, Goemon becomes bodyguard to Isabelle, a beautiful woman who is also seeking the Super Egg. Goemon Ishikawa XIII
is a fictional character created by Monkey Punch for his manga series ''Lupin III'', which debuted in ''Weekly Manga Action'' on August 10, 1967. Goemon is a thirteenth generation descendant of the renegade samurai Ishikawa Goemon. He is famous for a reticent personality coupled by apparent unlimited skill in martial arts and swordsmanship with his sword , known in the anime as . Unshō Ishizuka
was a Japanese actor, voice actor, narrator and theatre director from Katsuyama, Fukui. He was affiliated with Aoni Production at the time of his death and was known for providing the voice of both the narrator and Professor Oak on the Japanese anime series ''Pokémon''. In addition to that, he regularly appeared in both the Japanese and English-language versions of the ''Pokémon'' anime, voicing Onix, Steelix and numerous other Pokémon. Gorō Naya
was a Japanese actor, voice actor, narrator and theatre director from Hakodate, Hokkaidō. He and his brother were two of seven children, and was a drop-out of the legal education division of Ritsumeikan University. He was connected to Theatre Echo, and was the older brother of actor and voice actor Rokurō Naya. Naya is best known for providing the voice of Inspector Koichi Zenigata in the ''Lupin III'' franchise and for dubbing over the voices of actors Clark Gable, Charlton Heston, John Cleese, Lee Van Cleef, Martin Landau and Robert Ryan in the Japanese-language editions of their films.
