''By My Side'' (simplified Chinese: 不凡的爱) is a Singaporean Chinese drama which was telecasted on Singapore's free-to-air channel, MediaCorp Channel 8. It made its debut on 28 October 2008 and ended on 24 November 2008. This drama serial consists of 20 episodes, and was screened on every weekday night at 9:00 pm. The drama bears the same English name as another 30-episode SBC drama which debuted on 1 May 1990 (), and was screened on weekdays at 9.30pm, but both dramas are not related in any way. Plot The series is about AIDS patients and the social stigma they suffer, hence the red ribbon shown on the title sequence. Chen Bufan's family of 5 ife (Xinya), daughter (Tiantian), and his parents-in-lawlive in a 4-room HDB flat. Chen Tianwen
Chen Tianwen (born 28 March 1963) is a Singaporean actor. Career Chen was educated at the now-defunct Serangoon Garden Secondary Technical School. He joined the Singapore Broadcasting Corporation (now Mediacorp) after completing the 5th artiste drama training class and made his debut in 1984. He is contracted to Mediacorp, starring in many Chinese-language Singaporean dramas shown on MediaCorp Channel 8 since the 1990s. He has also starred in Singaporean movies including ''Ah Boys to Men 2'', '' Ah Boys to Men 3: Frogmen'' and '' The Lion Men: Ultimate Showdown''. Chen holds a black belt in taekwondo and his martial arts background led to him being cast in many ''Wuxia'' dramas in the 1990s and as characters with fight scenes in other drama series. The Star Awards (Chinese: 红星大奖) are awards for artistic and technical merit in the media organisation Mediacorp of Singapore where Mediacorp recognises entertainers under their employment for outstanding performances of the year. The awards are given annually in a ceremony. The various category winners are awarded a trophy, with initial designs featuring various star shapes. The star was subsequently removed and the trophy is designed as a S shaped column, depicting the star.
