Earl Lauer "Rusty" Butz (July 3, 1909 – February 2, 2008) was a United States government official who served as Secretary of Agriculture under Presidents Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford. His policies favored large-scale corporate farming and an end to New Deal programs. Background Butz was born in Albion, Indiana, and brought up on a dairy farm in Noble County, Indiana. He was the eldest of five children and worked on his parents' farm while growing up. He attended a one-room country school through eighth grade and graduated from high school in a class of seven. Butz was an alumnus of Purdue University, where he was a member of Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity. Norbert Leo Butz (born January 30, 1967) is an American actor and singer. He is best known for his work in Broadway theatre. He is a two-time winner of the Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical, and is one of only nine actors ever to have won the award twice. Early and personal life Butz was born on January 30, 1967, in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of Elaine (née Bourisaw) and Norbert Butz. He was raised in a middle-class family; his parents are devout Catholics. He is the seventh of 11 children and is named after his father. Dave Butz
David Roy Butz (June 23, 1950 – November 4, 2022) was an American professional football player who was a defensive tackle in the National Football League (NFL) for the St. Louis Cardinals and the Washington Redskins in a 16-year career from 1973 to 1988. During his time with Washington, as the team's defensive "anchor", he helped the Redskins reach the Super Bowl thrice, winning twice. He was named as one of the 70 Greatest Redskins in franchise history and a member of the NFL 1980s All-Decade Team. Edwin Sebastian Butz (1864 – July 1956) was a Seventh-day Adventist Church, Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) missionary who was active in Oceania and in Australia. Missionary career Edwin Sebastian Butz was born in 1864 in the United States. In 1895 he came to the South Pacific with his wife Florence and daughter Alma on the third voyage of the SDA schooner ''Pitcairn (schooner), Pitcairn''. They served first on Pitcairn Island, then in the early days of the Seventh-day Adventist Church of Tonga, Adventist mission in Tonga. They arrived in Tonga on 29 September 1896 with Sarah and Maria Young, two nursing trainees from Pitcairn Island. There they joined the first SDA missionaries, Edward Hilliard and his wife Ida, who had arrived the previous year. Butz is an associate professor of electrical engineering at Northwestern University and a Holocaust denier, best known as the author of the pseudohistorical book ''The Hoax of the Twentieth Century''. He achieved tenure in 1974 and currently teaches classes in control system theory and digital signal processing. Albert Butz (1849–1905) was a Swiss-born American inventor and businessman who founded the Butz Thermo-electric Regulator Company that, through a series of re-organizations, name changes, and mergers, became Honeywell, Incorporated. Early life In 1857, at 8 years of age, he immigrated (assumed with his family) to the United States. At age 16, he enlisted in the Union Army, serving in "Wisconsin's 47th Infantry"—for the last six months of the conflict; the company did not see combat and no event of note took place. Caspar Butz (October 23, 1825 – October 19, 1885) was a German American journalist and politician, born in Hagen, Kingdom of Prussia, who served as a member of the Illinois House of Representatives from 1858 to 1860 and as City Clerk of Chicago from 1876 to 1879. Early life Laura Ann Chenoweth Butz was born in Danville, Illinois, on July 11, 1860, the daughter of Thomas N. Chenoweth (died 1903).
