Buttin Rock School
Button Rock School, also known as the Buttin School, and District #85 School, is a historic one-room school building and national historic district located in the Ozark National Scenic Riverways near Eminence, Shannon County, Missouri. The school was built in 1913, and is a one-story, rectangular frame building on a pier foundation. It has a gable roof and is sheathed in novelty siding painted white. Also on the property is a contributing frame privy. Eminence, Missouri
Eminence is a city in Shannon County, Missouri, United States. The population was 515 at the 2020 census. It is the county seat of Shannon County. History A post office called Eminence has been in operation since 1844. According to one account, Eminence was so named on account of its lofty elevation, however, this interpretation is disputed. Geography Eminence is located in the center of the Ozark National Scenic Riverways, Missouri's largest national park and the nation's first protected river system. One-room School

Ozark National Scenic Riverways
The Ozark National Scenic Riverways is a recreational unit of the National Park Service in the Ozarks of southern Missouri in the U.S. The park was created by an Act of Congress in 1964 to protect the Current and Jacks Fork rivers, and it was formally dedicated in 1971. The park's are used for many forms of recreation and are home to abundant animal and plant species. 1.3 million recreational visits are estimated annually. Shannon County is a county in the southern portion of the U.S. state of Missouri. As of the 2020 census, the population was 7,031. Its county seat is Eminence. The county was officially organized on January 29, 1841, and was named in honor of George F. "Peg-Leg" Shannon, a member of the Lewis and Clark Expedition.
