Butler Armory
The Butler Armory is an historic National Guard armory which is located on Washington Street in Butler, Butler County, Pennsylvania. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1991. History and architectural features Designed by architect Joseph F. Kuntz with W.G. Wilkins, Co. and built in 1922, it was expanded in 1930. It is a "T"-plan building that consists of a one-story, brick, drill hall fronted by a two-story, brick administration section. The front section was designed in the Art Deco style. The building sits on a stone foundation. The administration section has a flat roof and the drill hall has a gambrel roof. Butler is a city and the county seat of Butler County, Pennsylvania, United States. It is located north of Pittsburgh and is part of the Greater Pittsburgh region. As of the 2020 census, the city population was 13,502. History Butler was named for Maj. Gen. Butler County is a county in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. It is part of Western Pennsylvania. As of the 2020 census, the population was 193,763. Its county seat is Butler. Renfrew is a small unincorporated village on the Connoquenessing Creek in Penn Township, Butler County, Pennsylvania, United States. It was founded by David A. Renfrew in 1882 on his farm. 56th Stryker Brigade Combat Team
The 56th Stryker Brigade Combat Team (SBCT), 28th Infantry Division, also known as the ''Independence Brigade'', is a brigade combat team of the Pennsylvania Army National Guard and has its headquarters located at Horsham Air Guard Station in Willow Grove, Pennsylvania. The 56th SBCT is one of nine Stryker Brigade Combat Teams in the United States Army and for many years, until the conversion of 81st SBCT, it was the only reserve component Stryker unit in the Army. It is one of five brigades of the 28th Infantry Division, and provides light infantry land assets for both federal and state active duty missions.
