''Bustin' Thru'' (also written as ''Bustin' Through'') is a 1925 American silent Western film directed by Clifford Smith and starring Jack Hoxie, Helen Lynch and William Bailey.Munden, p. 100. Synopsis Jack Savage refuses to sell his ranch to millionaire John Merritt who has previously shown no interest in ranching. It becomes clear that he believes that there is gold beneath the property, and his lawyer manages to acquire it through a technicality. However, Jack has fallen in love Merritt's daughter Helen, and after marrying her he reclaims his ranch. Clifford Smith (1894–1937) was an American film director who also occasionally film actor, acted and film producer, produced. He directed over eighty films between 1915 and 1937 as well as several serial film, serials, doing much of his work for Universal Pictures. Alfred Allen (April 8, 1866 – June 18, 1947) was an American silent film actor and author. Early life Allen was born in Alfred, New York. His parents were Jonathan Macomber Allen (1823-1892), president of Alfred University, and Abigail Ann (Maxson) Allen (1824-1894). Alfred's siblings were William (b. 1853), Eva (b. 1856), and May (b. 1860). He attended Harvard University, Johns Hopkins University, Columbia University, the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and the New England Conservatory of Music and earned his bachelor's and master's degrees at Alfred University. Film Allen was signed in 1915 and starred in 106 films before his retirement in 1935. Jack Hoxie
John Hartford Hoxie (January 11, 1885 – March 28, 1965) was an American rodeo performer and motion-picture actor whose career was most prominent in the silent film era of the 1910s through the 1930s. Hoxie is best recalled for his roles in Western (genre), Westerns and rarely strayed from the genre. Early life Born in Kingfisher Creek in Indian Territory (now the state of Oklahoma), Hoxie was the son of a veterinarian father, Bart "Doc" Hoxie, who was killed in a horse accident just weeks before Jack's birth, and a half–Nez Perce tribe, Nez Perce mother (some reports list her as Cherokee), Matilda E.
