Buscemi (DJ)
Buscemi is the nickname of the Belgian DJ Dirk Swartenbroekx. His style can be described as dance music with a touch of Latino, with among others lounge, house, jazz, Brazilian grooves, afrobeat and drum and bass. The CD ''Camino Real'' contains house music with funk and Latin influences. Artists like Isabelle Antena, Ted Milton and Michael Franti cooperated in the production of this CD. On the CD ''Late Nite Reworks Vol. 1'' different mixes can be heard. Buscemi not only brings out his music on hard disk but also performs live sets, supported by his band with drummer Luuk Cox, bass Hans Mullens and trumpetteer Sam Versweyveld. As such, they appeared multiple times at Rock Werchter, I Love Techno, Ten Days Off, Pukkelpop, Gentse Feesten, Dour Festival, Zeverrock and many other festivals. Lounge music is a type of easy listening music popular in the 1950s and 1960s. It may be meant to evoke in the listeners the feeling of being in a place, usually with a tranquil theme, such as a jungle, an island paradise or outer space. Live-set refers to any performance of electronic music that is generated live out of a bank of equipment or a laptop rather than a DJ mix, which is played from a pre-recorded medium, such as vinyl and CD with turntables or audio files with DJ software such as Traktor, Serato or Virtual DJ. Rocco Granata
Rocco Granata (born 16 August 1938) is an Italian-Belgian singer, songwriter, and accordionist. Granata was born in Figline Vegliaturo, Calabria, southern Italy; but his parents immigrated to Belgium when he was aged ten. Rocco's father was a coal miner, but Granata pursued music instead. He played accordion and toured Belgium with his band, 'The International Quintet'. He then released the songs "Manuela" / " Marina" as a single in 1959; the B-side became an international hit, reaching #1 in Belgium and in Germany as well as charting across Europe and in the United States. It sold over one million copies in Germany alone, and was awarded a gold disc. The Gentse Feesten (; In Ghent dialect Gense Fieste "The Ghent Festival") is a music and theatre festival in the city of Ghent, Belgium. Besides stage events there are street acts such as mimes and buskers. The festival starts on the Friday before the third Sunday of July and lasts until and including the fourth Sunday of July. The date originally had no reference to July 21st, Belgium's national holiday, but that holiday is always included. The festival starts on "the (Fri)day before the Saturday before July 21st" and lasts ten days. Pukkelpop is an annual music festival that takes place near the city of Hasselt, Belgium, in mid- to late August. It is held within a large enclosure of fields and woodland—adjacent to a dual carriageway called ''Kempische Steenweg''—in the village of Kiewit, approximately 7 km north of Hasselt. I Love Techno
I Love Techno is an international techno music event that takes place in Montpellier, France. National and international DJs perform every year at this event. Associated with the event is a set of music prizes known as the Elektropedia Awards, which are given for excellence in various categories related to techno and the broader electronic dance music genre. History From 1995-2014 the festival was based in Ghent, Belgium. The first edition of this event took place in 1995 at Vooruit and attracted 700 people. Rock Werchter is an annual music festival held in the village of Werchter, near Leuven, Belgium, since 1976 and is a large sized rock music festival. The 2003, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2012 and 2014 festivals received the Arthur award for ''best festival in the world'' at the International Live Music Conference (ILMC). It can host 88,000 guests daily, of which 67,500 combine all four days, to add up to a total maximum of 149,500 different attendees.
