Burwood Council
The Municipality of Burwood (also known as Burwood Council) is a local government area in the inner-west of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. The Mayor of the Municipality is Cr. John Faker, a member of the Labor Party. The municipality is 7km², making it the second smallest Local Government Area, being larger than only Hunter's Hill History The municipality was established on 27 March 1874. The council chambers are located on Conder Street and were designed and built by architect Jack Hennessy in 1877. Hennessy was later a mayor of Burwood. A 2015 review of local government boundaries by the NSW Government Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal recommended that the Municipality of Burwood merge with adjoining councils of: Canada Bay and Strathfield Councils to form a new council with an area of and support a population of approximately 163,000 at the time. Croydon, New South Wales
Croydon is a suburb in the Inner West of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. It is located west of the Sydney central business district. Croydon is split between the two local government areas of Municipality of Burwood and the Inner West Council. The suburb is nestled between the commercial centres of Ashfield and Burwood. Enfield South is a former locality in the suburb of Croydon Park in the Inner West Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Enfield South is designated as a neighbourhood by the NSW Geographical Names Board. Commercial area The Enfield South neighbourhood is bounded by Mitchell Street to the north, Coronation Parade to the west, Georges River Road to the south, and Burwood Road to the east. Enfield is a suburb in the Inner West of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. It is 11 kilometres south-west of the Sydney central business district in the local government area of Municipality of Burwood. History The suburb is named after Enfield Town, a suburb of London, England. Aboriginal culture Before the arrival of the First Fleet in 1788, the Enfield area belonged to the Wangal people, a clan of the Eora tribe, which covered most of Sydney. In the early years, the Eora people were badly affected by smallpox, which arrived with the British. Many of the clans became unsustainably small and the survivors formed new bands who lived where they could. Gladys Berejiklian (born 22 September 1970) is an Australian former politician who served as the 45th premier of New South Wales and the leader of the New South Wales division of the Liberal Party from 2017 to 2021. Berejiklian became a member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly after winning the electoral district of Willoughby in the 2003 state election. The Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal of New South Wales (IPART) is an independent regulatory and pricing tribunal that oversees regulation in water, gas, electricity and transport industries in the Australian state of New South Wales.
