Burnley F.C. Under-23s And Academy
Burnley F.C. Academy are the youth teams of Burnley Football Club. The under-21s currently play in the second level of reserve football in England, the under-21 Professional Development League. The team mainly consists of players under the age of 21 at the club, but does occasionally include first team players. Burnley's under-18s currently play in the second level of academy football in England, the U18 Professional Development League. County Ground (Leyland)
The County Ground is a football stadium in Leyland, Lancashire, England which is owned and operated by Lancashire County Football Association (Lancashire FA). It is the home ground of Burnley under-21s, Blackburn Rovers under-21s, Bolton Wanderers reserves and both the Lancashire FA representative team and the Lancashire FA youth team. History The County Ground is located next to the Motor Vehicle Museum and was originally home to Leyland Motors FC who played in the Lancashire Combination from 1933 until 1980 when they joined the Cheshire County League, where they played for two seasons, before becoming founder members of the North West Counties Football League in 1982. In 1990 they changed name to Leyland DAF-SGL and in 1992 were demoted to the West Lancashire Football League, before another name change to Leyland Motors Athletic in 1993. Lancashire Senior Cup
The Lancashire County Football Association Cup (commonly known as the Lancashire Senior Cup) is a football knockout tournament involving teams from Lancashire, England. It is a County Cup competition of the Lancashire County Football Association and involves Premier League clubs and Football League clubs. However, these days the bigger Football League clubs generally field their reserve teams. Historic Lancashire currently has 5 Premier League teams, 12 Football League sides and 4 National League teams — this means not every club enters in concurrent years — the tournament starts at the round of 16 so higher up clubs often have to miss years to allow lower down clubs a chance to play in the competition. Tommy Cummings
Thomas Smith Cummings (12 September 1928 – 12 July 2009) was an English football player and manager. Cummings was born in Sunderland, County Durham and started his football career at Hylton Colliery Juniors. Such was his quality as a centre-half he was invited to Strasbourg in 1947 to represent Great Britain in a junior international tournament. In the same year he signed a professional contract with Burnley, also opting to continue his apprenticeship as a mining engineer. Cummings made his league debut for Burnley in December 1948. He also played for England B three times. He played in the 1959–60 championship winning season and in the 1962 FA Cup Final, and in all made 479 appearances for the Clarets, standing fifth in their all-time list of Football League appearances with 434. Harold Potts (22 October 1920 – 16 January 1996) was an English football player and manager. As a player he won promotion with both Burnley and Everton, and both from Second Division. As Burnley manager, he guided them to the First Division championship in 1959–60, the Anglo-Scottish Cup in 1978–79 and an unsuccessful appearance in the 1962 FA Cup Final. George Bray
George Bray (11 November 1918 – 13 February 2002) was an English professional footballer who played as a wing half. He played his entire senior career with Burnley, making more than 250 appearances for the club in all competitions and forming part of the renowned defence known as the "Iron Curtain". After retiring from playing he remained at Burnley, firstly on the coaching staff and later as kit man before departing in 1992.
