''Burning Like the Midnight Sun'' is the 12th studio release, and 11th full-length studio album, by Christian alternative rock band the Choir, released in 2010. Background In the five years that followed the release of ''O How the Mighty Have Fallen'', the members of the Choir focused on other musical endeavors. Lead singer and guitarist Derri Daugherty and drummer and lyricist Steve Hindalong were concurrent members of the Christian "supergroup" Lost Dogs, so they recorded three albums with the group during this time: ''The Lost Cabin and the Mystery Trees'' (2006), ''We Like to Have Christmas'' (2007), and ''Old Angel'' (2010). The Choir is an atmospheric Christian alternative rock band currently comprising Derri Daugherty on guitar and vocals, Steve Hindalong on drums, and Dan Michaels on saxophone and lyricon. Leeland (band)
Leeland is a Christian rock band from Baytown, Texas. The band was formed in 2004, although lead singer Leeland Mooring had been writing songs beforehand. Leeland consists of Leeland Mooring (lead vocals, guitar), and Casey Moore (guitar, background vocals). The band's original line-up included Jeremiah Wood (guitar), who left the band in late 2006 and was replaced by guitarist Matt Campbell in early 2007, Jack Mooring (piano), Mike Smith (drums) and Jake Holtz (bass). The National is an American rock band of Cincinnati, Ohio natives, formed in Brooklyn, New York City in 1999. Explosions in the Sky is an American post-rock band from Texas. The quartet originally played under the name Breaker Morant, then changed to the current name in 1999. The band has garnered popularity beyond the post-rock scene for their elaborately developed guitar work, narratively styled instrumentals—what they refer to as "cathartic mini-symphonies"—and their enthusiastic and emotional live shows. The Lyricon is an electronic wind instrument, the first wind controller to be constructed. Invented by Bill Bernardi (and co-engineered by Roger Noble and with the late Lyricon performer Chuck GreenbergIngham (1998) p.184), filed for patent on October 5, 1971, by Computone Inc., patented under #US3767833 October 23, 1973 and then manufactured by Computone Inc. in Massachusetts in the early 1970s. It was reissued in 2011 by the band's own label, Hammock Music. Reception ''Raising Your Voice...Trying to Stop an Echo'' was met with positive critical reception. In his review for ''AllMusic'', James Mason stated that, with this album, Hammock "leave behind the dream pop scene from whence they came, and become a band creating truly unique music -- transcendent shoegaze," further stating that this album left Hammock "at the top of their game." Post-rock
Post-rock is a form of experimental rock characterized by a focus on exploring textures and timbre over traditional rock song structures, chords, or riffs. Post-rock artists are often instrumental, typically combining rock instrumentation with electronics. The genre emerged within the indie and underground music scene of the 1980s and early 1990s. However, due to its abandonment of rock conventions, it often bears little resemblance musically to contemporary indie rock, borrowing instead from diverse sources including ambient, electronica, jazz, krautrock, dub, and minimalist classical.
