''Burning Desire'' is a posthumous compilation album by Jimi Hendrix, released on December 12, 2006 by Dagger Records. It contains instrumental studio jams and rough demos recorded in late 1969 and early 1970. Jimi Hendrix
James Marshall "Jimi" Hendrix (born Johnny Allen Hendrix; November 27, 1942September 18, 1970) was an American guitarist, singer and songwriter. Although his mainstream career spanned only four years, he is widely regarded as one of the most influential electric guitarists in the history of popular music, and one of the most celebrated musicians of the 20th century. Dagger Records is an American record label based in Seattle, Washington. Dagger produces and releases, in conjunction with Experience Hendrix, L.L.C. and MCA Records, official Jimi Hendrix bootlegs and collections of rare studio recordings. The first Dagger release was ''Live at the Oakland Coliseum'', a live album documenting The Jimi Hendrix Experience's performance at the Oakland Coliseum, Oakland, California on April 27, 1969. ''Live at the Isle of Fehmarn'' is a posthumous live album by Jimi Hendrix, released on December 13, 2005, by Dagger Records. It was recorded by the post-Band of Gypsys Jimi Hendrix Experience that included Hendrix, Mitch Mitchell, and Billy Cox. The album documents their performance at the Open Air Love & Peace Festival in Fehmarn, West Germany on September 6, 1970, which was Hendrix's final official concert performance. Several amateur recordings were made and released as bootlegs over the years, and after a new audio recording made by the festival’s promoter surfaced, the album was mixed and produced. Buddy Miles
George Allen "Buddy" Miles Jr. (September 5, 1947February 26, 2008) was an American composer, drummer, guitarist, vocalist and producer. He was a founding member of the Electric Flag (1967), a member of Jimi Hendrix's Band of Gypsys (1969–1970), founder and leader of the Buddy Miles Express and later, the Buddy Miles Band. Miles also played and recorded with Carlos Santana and others. William Cox (born October 18, 1941) is an American bassist, best known for performing with Jimi Hendrix. Cox is the only surviving musician to have regularly played with Hendrix: first with the experimental group that backed Hendrix at Woodstock (informally referred to as "Gypsy Sun and Rainbows"), followed by the trio with drummer Buddy Miles that recorded the live '' Band of Gypsys'' album, and, lastly, The Cry of Love Tour trio with Mitch Mitchell back on drums. ''Band of Gypsys'' is a live album by Jimi Hendrix and the first without his original group, the Jimi Hendrix Experience. It was recorded on January 1, 1970, at the Fillmore East in New York City with Billy Cox on bass and Buddy Miles on drums, frequently referred to as the Band of Gypsys. The album mixes funk and rhythm and blues elements with hard rock and jamming, an approach which later became the basis of funk rock. It contains previously unreleased songs and was the last full-length Hendrix album released before his death. "Stepping Stone" is a song by American musician Jimi Hendrix. Written and produced by Hendrix, he recorded it early in 1970 with the short-lived Band of Gypsys lineup of Hendrix, Billy Cox and Buddy Miles.
