George Beranger
George Beranger (27 March 1893 – 8 March 1973), also known as André Beranger, was an Australian silent film actor and director in Hollywood.Naturalization Records of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California, Central Division (Los Angeles), 1887–1940; Microfilm Serial: M1524; Microfilm Roll: 2. He is also sometimes credited under the pseudonym George André de Beranger. Early life Beranger was born George Augustus Beringer in Enmore, New South Wales, Australia, the youngest of five sons of Caroline Mondientz and Adam Beringer, a German engine fitter. His mother committed suicide when he was three years old and he left home at the age of 14. He studied acting at the College of Elocution and Dramatic Art founded by Scottish actor Walter Bentley. Matthew Betz (September 13, 1881 – January 26, 1938) was an American film actor. Betz was born in St. Louis, Missouri, in 1881. Following an extended career in the U.S. Cavalry, Betz spent eight years in Vaudeville. His first stage play was ''Ellis Island''. He appeared in more than 120 films between 1914 and 1937. Harry L. Fraser (31 March 1889 – 8 April 1974) was an American film director and screenplay writer. Biography Born in 1889 in San Francisco, Fraser directed over 80 films between 1925 and 1951, including the 1934 John Wayne film ''Randy Rides Alone'' and the Frank Buck 1937 cliffhanger serial ''Jungle Menace''. He had a small acting role in the John Wayne film '' 'Neath the Arizona Skies''. He also wrote screenplays. In his autobiography, Fraser described filming a scene in ''Jungle Menace'' in which a boa constrictor attacks the heroine Dorothy (Charlotte Henry). Julia Swayne Gordon
Julia Swayne Gordon (born Sarah Victoria Smith; October 29, 1878 – May 28, 1933) was an American actress who appeared in at least 228 films between 1908 and 1933. Early years Gordon was born in Columbus, Ohio, to Louis and Anna Smith and was educated there. She went to Denver to study dramatics under Jessie Bonstelle. Career Gordon moved to New York and acted in stock theater, after which, she performed with Henrietta Crosman and James A. Herne. Gordon's work in film began in 1905 with the Edison Company, and in 1908 she moved to Vitagraph Studios. In 1911 she starred in Vitagraph's screen portrayal of the Lady Godiva legend. Perhaps her most memorable performance, however, is as Richard Arlen's mother in the World War I silent film ''Wings'' (1927), which won the first Academy Award for Best Picture.
