''Burn, Berlin, Burn!'' is a compilation album released by Atari Teenage Riot in 1997. Initially released in the United States by the Beastie Boys' record label Grand Royal (Mike D was quoted saying the music is "the most punk-rock shit ever" Ken Micallef, Digital Hardcore: Rage Against the Techno Machine, ''Rolling Stone'', February 20, 1997AlecEmpireFansite.com.), the album is a collection of tracks from their first two albums ''Delete Yourself!'' and ''The Future of War''. Atari Teenage Riot
Atari Teenage Riot (ATR) is a German band formed in Berlin in 1992. Highly political, they fuse left-wing, anarchist and anti-fascist views with punk vocals and a techno sound called digital hardcore, which is a term band member Alec Empire used as the name of his record label Digital Hardcore Recordings. History Atari Teenage Riot was founded as an attack on the Neo-Nazi subculture by fusing hardcore punk views with German techno; it consisted of three Berliners—Alec Empire, Hanin Elias and MC Carl Crack. ATR's early releases (which included the track "Hetzjagd Auf Nazis!"/"Hunt Down the Nazis!") were surrounded by controversy in Germany. After signing to major European label Phonogram Records in 1993, the band received a large financial advance which they duplicitously used to set up their own record label: Digital Hardcore Recordings (DHR). ''Destroy 2000 Years of Culture'' is a song by Atari Teenage Riot, released as the fourth and final single from their 1997 album ''The Future of War''. The single was released as a 12" vinyl record and as a limited edition CD, with only 500 copies made. The CD edition contains an unlisted hidden track: An instrumental version of the B-side "Paranoid". Overview The track revolves around a sample of the track "Dead Skin Mask" by Slayer, from their 1990 album ''Seasons in the Abyss''. It also contains rapping by Alec Empire. A music video was produced for the track, which shows Alec Empire rapping against grainy, highly saturated footage with a metal device in his neck. Michael Louis Diamond (born November 20, 1965), better known as Mike D, is an American rapper, musician, and music producer. He is best known as a founding member of the hip hop group Beastie Boys. Early life Diamond was born in New York City to Harold Diamond, an art dealer, and Hester (née Klein) Diamond, an interior designer and art collector. He grew up on the Upper West Side surrounded by artwork, including pieces by Willem de Kooning, Mark Rothko, and Barnett Newman. He attended the arts-oriented Saint Ann's School and Walden School. Career In 1979, Diamond co-founded the band The Young Aborigines. In 1981, Adam Yauch, aka MCA, a friend and follower of the band, became their bass player, and on the suggestion of their then-guitar player, John Berry, the band changed their name to the Beastie Boys. Beastie Boys were an American rap rock group from New York City, formed in 1978. The group was composed of Mike D, Michael "Mike D" Diamond (vocals, drums), Adam Yauch, Adam "MCA" Yauch (vocals, bass), and Ad-Rock, Adam "Ad-Rock" Horovitz (vocals, guitar, Programming (music), programming).
