Burlingame Dragons FC was an American soccer club based in Burlingame, California. Founded in 2014, the team played in the Premier Development League (PDL). The team was owned by Nick Swinmurn, founder of Zappos.com and a minority investor in the NBA's Golden State Warriors, and David Ebersman, former CFO of Facebook and Genentech. The team played its home games at Burlingame High School stadium. They were the developmental affiliate of the San Jose Earthquakes of Major League Soccer. History Burlingame Dragons FC (BDFC) signed an affiliation agreement with the San Jose Earthquakes of Major League Soccer to be their official U23 team on December 9, 2014. Burlingame High School (California)
Burlingame High School is a public high school in Burlingame, California. It is part of the San Mateo Union High School District (SMUHSD). History In order to meet the growing student population, the school was opened in December 1923 under the name "San Mateo High School, Burlingame Branch." Designed by architect W. H. Weeks, the school took in students from Burlingame, Hillsborough, Millbrae, and San Bruno. Initial enrollment consisted of 350 students and 30 teachers. As a branch of San Mateo High School, extracurricular organizations were shared between the schools. There was a single band, football team, and other athletic teams with student members from both schools. Within 10 years the enrollment of the school increased to 494 boys and 474 girls, totaling 968 pupils, a figure close to the school's original design capacity. Matt Wiesenfarth (born July 5, 1993) is an American soccer player. Career Wiesenfarth played five years of college soccer at University of California, Davis between 2011 and 2015. Following college Wiesenfarth appeared for Premier Development League side Burlingame Dragons in 2016, before moving to New Zealand to play for Canterbury United. He returned to California to play with NPSL club Sacramento Gold before returning to the Dragons, where he scored 13 goals in 11 games to earn a piece of the Western Conference scoring title. The North American Soccer League (NASL) was a professional men's soccer league based in the United States. The league was named for, but had no connection to, the original North American Soccer League. The later NASL was founded in 2009, and began play in 2011 with eight teams. Founded in 2015, the team made its debut in the USL Championship in March 2017 and ceased operations after the 2020 season. Eric Bucchere is the co-founder and current CEO and Sporting Director of Path2Pro Soccer. Prior to joining Path2Pro Bucchere was an American soccer coach who most recently an assistant coach with Reno 1868 FC in the United Soccer League. Prior to his role with Reno 1868 FC, Bucchere was the head coach of Burlingame Dragons FC of the Premier Development League in 2016.
