Songkhla United Football Club ( th, สโมสรฟุตบอลสงขลา ยูไนเต็ด) is a Thai professional football club based in Songkhla Province. History 2009–2011 Buriram or early years The club was founded in 2009 as Buriram Football Club (สโมสรฟุตบอลจังหวัดบุรีรัมย์) by the club president, Karuna Chidchob. 2012 moved to Songkhla On 9 January 2012 it was announced that Thai Premier League side PEA. F.C. owner Newin Chidchob would buy out promoted Thai Division 1 League side Buriram F.C. . After Chidchob bought the club he sold the rights to Songkhla F.C.. Chidchob's reason for selling the rights to Songkhla F.C. was to help provincial football stating that Southern Thailand was the only area in Thailand that had never had a Thai Premier League side. Tinsulanon Stadium
Tinsulanonda Stadium ( th, สนามติณสูลานนท์, ) is a multi-purpose stadium in Songkhla, Thailand. Named after the Songkhla-born former Thai Prime Minister Prem Tinsulanonda, it is used mostly for football matches. The stadium has a capacity of 20,000 but just 2,000 of those spaces are covered in a small single-tiered stand along one touchline. The rest of the stadium is a continuous curving tier. The stadium hosted one of the semi-finals in the 1998 Asian Games men's football tournament. History In the early 1970s, the Sports Authority of Thailand has a project to build a stadium in the region in Songkhla. The stadium name is "District 9 Stadium", located in Bo Yang Subdistrict, Mueang District, Songkhla Province, with the support of the construction budget from the Government Lottery Office. Kirati Keawsombat ( th, กีรติ เขียวสมบัติ; ), simply known as Pop ( th, ป๊อป) is a Thai professional footballer who plays as a striker. Club career His career began in ''Assumption College Thonburi'', on which he went to school. In 2007, he was hired by the former Thai Division 1 League side FC Royal Thai Army. After the descent of the association in 2008 he moved to FC TOT for only one season later, his coach Pongphan Wongsuwan to follow Buriram. Kirati went to Wuachon and scored a couple goals. In 2013, he played with PTT Rayong F.C. in the 2013 Thai Division 1 League. International career From 2005 to 2006 he was in the squad of the U-19 national team. He was in the squad AFF U-19 Youth Championship in 2005 and also in the squad, which struggled to qualify for the U-19 Asian Cup. The team failed to qualify for the final tournament at the end. 2012 Thai Premier League (known as Sponsor Thai Premier League for sponsorship reasons) is the 16th season of the Thai Premier League since its establishment in 1996. A total of 18 teams are competing in the league. 2010 Regional League Division 2 North-East Region is the 2nd season of the League competition since its establishment in 2009. It is in the third tier of the Thai football league system. 2009 Regional League Division 2 North Eastern Region ( th, ลีกภูมิภาค ภาคตะวันออกเฉียงเหนือ or ไทยลีกดิวิชัน 2 ภาคตะวันออกเฉียงเหนือ) is the 3rd Level League in Thailand. In 2009, contains 12 clubs from North Eastern region. The league winners qualify for the end of season Regional Championships with the other four league winners in the Regional setup. Ubon United FC withdrew from the league after playing 16 games, due to a dispute with the Thailand Football Association (FAT). All results were declared null and void. Kor Royal Cup ( th, ถ้วยพระราชทาน ก. ; ถ้วย ก.), known as the Yai Cup ( th, ถ้วยใหญ่) until 1963, was the highest level of club football competition which competed in the tournament in Thailand from 1916 to 1995.
