Buried Treasure
Buried treasure is a literary trope commonly associated with depictions of pirates, criminals, and Old West outlaws. According to popular conception, these people often buried their stolen fortunes in remote places, intending to return to them later (often with the use of a pirates treasure map). Pirates Pirates burying treasure was rare. The only pirate known to have actually buried treasure was William Kidd, who is believed to have buried at least some of his wealth on Gardiners Island near Long Island before sailing into New York City. Kidd had originally been commissioned as a privateer for England, but his behavior had strayed into outright piracy, and he hoped that his treasure could serve as a bargaining chip in negotiations to avoid punishment. His bid was unsuccessful, however, and Kidd was hanged as a pirate. In English fiction there are three well-known stories that helped to popularize the myth of buried pirate treasure: '' Wolfert Webber'' (1824) by Washington Ir ...

Eveready Harton In Buried Treasure
''"Buried Treasure" Featuring Eveready Harton'', also known as ''Pecker Island'', is an American adult animated pornographic cartoon short film made in the United States in 1928 or 1929. It depicts the sexual adventures of Eveready Harton (a pun on "ever-ready hard-on"), whose perpetually aroused, comically oversized penis at times detaches and acts on its own. Over the course of the movie, Eveready has a variety of sexual relations with a woman, a man, a donkey, and a cow. The six-and-a-half-minute silent black-and-white film was produced anonymously, reportedly a joint project by three mainstream studios for a private animation-industry party. Plot A title card states that Eveready has escaped "a band of Hoary Amazens ic with "his treasure", ending on a desert island. Eveready is sleeping and awakens to two flies buzzing around the head of his erect penis. He shoots at them, causing the penis to briefly detach and hide. After re-attaching it, he looks around with binoculars ...

Buried Treasures (Dave Brubeck Album)
''Buried Treasures'' is a 1967 live album by Dave Brubeck and his quartet, recorded during their tour of Mexico. It was released in 1998. A second live album recorded on their tour, ''Bravo! Brubeck!'', was released in July 1967. Reception The album was reviewed by Scott Yanow at Allmusic who wrote that "The quality is certainly quite high, with Brubeck and Desmond really digging into such songs as "Koto Song" (coming up with some inspired ideas over its vamp), "You Go to My Head," a lengthy "St. Louis Blues," and a fairly concise version of "Take Five," one of the few versions by Brubeck of the hit song that does not have a drum solo. ...the Quartet is heard throughout in prime form. Recommended". Doug Ramsey reviewed the album for '' Jazz Times'' and wrote that "It catches the quartet in as fine fettle...The empathy, the tightness, the ability to anticipate that this band had developed in nearly a decade together was at its peak. "Mr. Broadway," at a furious clip, is pure exhi ...

Love Or Something Like It
''Love or Something Like It'' is the fifth studio album by country music superstar Kenny Rogers, released in 1978. It was Rogers' fourth #1 hit album. Overview The album's title cut ("Love or Something Like It") also topped the charts. Though this was the only single to be issued from the album, another cut, "Momma's Waiting" (written by Rogers), was issued on the B-side of a 1978 major hit single, " The Gambler". "Momma's Waiting" was originally recorded by Rogers and The First Edition in 1970. The song "We Could Have Been The Closest of Friends" was also recorded by a number of other artists including B J Thomas, Sammy Davis Jr. and Tom Jones. Biographer Chris Bolton notes in the sleevenotes of the 2009 reissue on the Edsel record label that "I Could Be So Good For You", was Kenny's attempt to "go Disco" and suggests the Disco influence may be the reason only one single was pulled from this album. Bolton goes on to call "Momma's Waiting" a close cousin of Merle Haggard's "Ma ...

It was recorded at Studio Miraval in Correns, France with producer Steve Levine, best known for his work with Culture Club. ''House of Miracles'' like their debut studio album, ''Velocity'' (1984), failed to chart. "Girl Most Likely To" was the only single released from the album but it also did not chart and the band broke up a year after the album was released. The track "Souvenirs" had been written for the Bangles but that failed to materialise and it was instead recorded for this album. To date, the album remains unavailable on CD or MP3 and has been long out of print on vinyl since its initial release. Track listing Side one #"Danger Zone" – 3:15 #"Girl Most Likely To" – 3:42 #"Way with Words" – 3:53 #"Face t ...
