Burapha University Hospital () is a university teaching hospital, affiliated to the Faculty of Medicine of Burapha University, located in Mueang Chonburi District, Chonburi Province. It is a hospital capable of super tertiary care. History The Burapha University Health Sciences Center (originally ''the Medical Center Project''), donated by Gen. Arthit Kamlang-ek, was inaugurated on 31 August 1984. It was a two-story building, similar to other existing community hospitals, aimed to provide medical services to local citizens, with the potential of becoming a training institution. By 1985, the outpatient department had expanded, and the center was capable of 24-hour baby delivery. In 2008, following reforms in the university, the hospital operations were transferred to the faculty of Medicine. Mueang Chonburi ( th, เมืองชลบุรี, , ) is the capital district ('' amphoe mueang'') of Chonburi province, eastern Thailand. Chonburi Province
Chonburi (, , ) is a province of Thailand (''changwat'') located in eastern Thailand. Its capital is also named Chonburi. Neighbouring provinces are (clockwise from north) Chachoengsao, Chanthaburi, and Rayong, while the Bay of Bangkok is to the west. Pattaya, a major tourism destination in Thailand, is located in Chonburi, along with Laem Chabang, the country's primary seaport. The Faculty of Medicine, Burapha University () is the first medical school in Eastern Thailand, located in Mueang Chonburi District, Chonburi Province. It is part of the group of Health Science Faculties of Bangsaen Campus. History Funding was allocated in 1994 in a proposal to expand the 'Burapha University Health Sciences Center' into a university hospital, along with setting up a new faculty for Medicine specifically. The faculty was set up on 2 September 2002 and the Doctor of Medicine degree was approved by the group of universities on 10 February 2003 and the first cohort of 32 medical students were admitted for the 2007 academic year, following approval from the Medical Council of Thailand. Burapha University (BUU) (Thai: มหาวิทยาลัยบูรพา) is one of Thailand's public universities. It is in the coastal town of Saen Suk, near the beach of Bangsaen in Chonburi province. It was established on 8 July 1955, originating from Bangsaen Educational College which was the first regional tertiary educational institute. Arthit Kamlang-ek
Arthit Kamlang-ek (31 August 1925 – 19 January 2015; th, อาทิตย์ กำลังเอก, ) was a Thai general. He was the Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Army from 1982 to 1986 and parallel the Supreme Commander of the Royal Thai Armed Forces from 1983 to 1986. He was particularly influential during the 1980s during the government of Prem Tinsulanonda. Education and early career Arthit graduated from the Chulachomklao Royal Military Academy. He later attended the Royal Thai Army's Staff College. Family General Arthit has two sons, one daughter and one stepson.
