Bulkington Railway Station
Bulkington was a railway station on the Trent Valley Line serving the village of Bulkington, Warwickshire, England. The station was opened along with the line in 1847, and was closed in 1931. The station had three platforms; one side platform, and an island platform. The platforms are long gone, the only surviving remnant of the station today is the former station building alongside the tracks, which is now a private house. The station building was designed by John William Livock, who designed most of the stations on the Trent Valley Railway. It is one of the few remaining examples of original Livock designed station buildings on the Trent Valley Line. Two others still exist at and . Bulkington is a large village and former civil parish, now in the unparished area of Bedworth, in the Nuneaton and Bedworth district of Warwickshire, England.OS Explorer Map 232 : Nuneaton & Tamworth: (1:25 000) : In the 2011 census the ward had a population of 6,146 and 6,303 in the 2001 census. The London and North Western Railway (LNWR, L&NWR) was a British railway company between 1846 and 1922. In the late 19th century, the L&NWR was the largest joint stock company in the United Kingdom. John William Livock
John William Livock (30 July 1814 - 15 March 1883) was an architect based in England, best known for his railway stations constructed for the London and North Western Railway. Family He was born on 30 July 1814 in Hampstead, the son of John Livock (1781-1840) a Coal Merchant, and Mary Millican (1792-1865). He was baptised on 25 September 1814 in St John's Church, Hampstead. He married Julia Barker (1823-1867) and they had two children *John Edward Livock (1848-1858) *Mary Livock (1850-1914) He died on 15 March 1883 in London. The LNWR Dreadnought class was a class of 40 passenger three-cylinder compound 2-2-2-0 locomotives designed by F. W. Webb for the London and North Western Railway, and manufactured by them in their Crewe Works between 1884 and 1888.
