Bulgogi
''Bulgogi'' (불고기; ; from Korean language, Korean ''bul-gogi'' ), literally "fire meat", is a ''Gui (food), gui'' (구이; Korean-style grilled or roasted dish) made of thin, marination, marinated slices of meat, most commonly beef, grilled on a barbecue or on a stove-top griddle. It is also often stir-fried in a pan in home cooking. Sirloin steak, Sirloin, rib eye steak, rib eye or brisket are frequently used cuts of beef for the dish. The dish originated from northern areas of the Korean Peninsula, but is a very popular dish in South Korea, where it can be found anywhere from upscale restaurants to local supermarkets as pan-ready kits. Etymology Bulgogi came from the Korean word ''bul-gogi'' (), consisting of ''bul'' ("fire") and ''gogi'' ("meat"). Gui (food)
In Korean cuisine gui or guee () is a grilled dish. Gui most commonly has meat or fish as the primary ingredient, but may in some cases also have grilled vegetables or other vegetarian ingredients. The term derives from the verb ''gupda'' (), which literally means "grill". At traditional restaurants, meats are cooked at the center of the table over a charcoal grill, surrounded by various ''banchan'' and individual rice bowls. The cooked meat is then cut into small pieces and wrapped with fresh lettuce leaves, with rice, thinly sliced garlic, ''ssamjang'' (a mixture of ''gochujang'' and ''dwenjang''), and other seasonings. The suffix ''gui'' is often omitted in the names of meat-based ''gui'' such as ''galbi'', whose name was originally ''galbi gui''. Korean cuisine has evolved through centuries of social and political change. Originating from ancient agricultural and nomadic traditions in Korea and southern Manchuria, Korean cuisine reflects a complex interaction of the natural environment and different cultural trends. ''Jeok'' () is a Korean meat dish served with skewers. Jeok is typically made with a large variety of meats, vegetables and mushrooms and is usually served on special occasions such as birthdays ( hwangap) and wedding ceremonies. Jeok comes in multiple varieties, including ''sanjeok'' and '' nureum-jeok''. Origin Jeok is from Maekjeok (맥적; 貊炙). It is discussed in the book ''In Search of the Supernatural'' (搜神記) written during the Jin dynasty of China. Yakiniku
''Yakiniku'' (焼き肉 or 焼肉), meaning "grilled meat", is a Japanese term that, in its broadest sense, refers to grilled meat cuisine. "Yakiniku" originally referred to western "barbecue" food, the term being popularized by Japanese writer Kanagaki Robun (仮名垣魯文) in his ''Seiyo Ryoritsu'' (i.e. "western food handbook") in 1872 (Meiji period). Pyongan Province
Pyeong-an Province (, ) was one of Eight Provinces of Korea during the Joseon Dynasty. Pyeong'an was located in the northwest of Korea. The provincial capital was Pyeongyang (now Pyongyang, North Korea). History Pyeong'an Province was formed in 1413. Its name derived from the names of two of its principal cities, Pyeongyang () and Anju ().
