Bulgarian Basketball Federation
The Bulgarian Basketball Federation ( bg, Българска федерация по баскетбол, Bǎlgarska federatsiya po basketbol) also known as (BFB) is the national governing body of basketball in Bulgaria. They organize national competitions in Bulgaria for the Bulgaria men's national basketball team, and Bulgaria women's national basketball team. FIBA Europe
FIBA Europe is the administrative body for basketball in Europe, within the International Basketball Federation (FIBA), which includes all 50 national European basketball federations. Sofia
Sofia ( ; bg, София, Sofiya, ) is the capital and largest city of Bulgaria. It is situated in the Sofia Valley at the foot of the Vitosha mountain in the western parts of the country. Georgi Nikolov Glouchkov (alternate spelling: Gueorgui) ( bg, Георги Николов Глушков; born January 10, 1960 in Tryavna) is a Bulgarian former professional basketball player and president of Bulgarian Basketball Federation. A 6 ft 8 in (204 cm) forward, he was the first player from an Eastern bloc country to compete in the American National Basketball Association (NBA). Professional career Glouchkov began playing with Bulgaria's national team as a teenager. After one successful season with the Luskov Yambol junior side, he got promoted to their senior side by his junior coach Simeon Varchev. Bulgaria National Basketball Team
The Bulgaria men's national basketball team ( bg, Български национален отбор по баскетбол, Balgarski natsionalen otbor po basketbol) represents Bulgaria in international basketball. The governing body is the Bulgarian Basketball Federation. Bulgaria's first appearance at an international tournament came at the EuroBasket in EuroBasket 1935, 1935. Bulgaria Women's National Basketball Team
The Bulgaria women's national basketball team ( bg, България отбор жени национален по баскетбол) represents Bulgaria in international women's basketball, and is controlled by the Bulgarian Basketball Federation. Their achievements range from winning the 1958 EuroBasket Women's Championship, and the Balkan Championship in 1960. The National Basketball League (NBL) (in Bulgarian: Националната баскетболна лига) is the highest professional basketball league in Bulgaria. The current league was founded in 2008, though the first-tier level existed since 1942 and was previously called the Bulgarian A Division. The games in the NBL are played under FIBA rules.
