Mari Jo Buhle
Mari Jo Buhle (born 1943) is an American historian and William R. Kenan Jr., William J. Kenan Jr. University Professor Emerita at Brown University. Early life and education Buhle was born in 1943 as Mari Jo Kupski. She graduated from North Chicago Community High School in 1961. Listed as Mari Jo Kupski Buhle in 1968, she received her Master of Arts degree in history from the University of Connecticut. She earned a doctorate from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1974. Career She served on the faculty of Brown University from 1972 until her retirement in 2009, where she was the first member of the faculty to hold a position dedicated to women's studies. She taught mainly on the history of American women, training students at the undergraduate and graduate levels in both the American Civilization and History departments. Paul Buhle
Paul Merlyn Buhle (born September 27, 1944) is a (retired) Senior Lecturer at Brown University, author or editor of 35 volumes including histories of radicalism in the United States and the Caribbean, studies of popular culture, and a series of nonfiction comic art volumes. He is the authorized biographer of C. L. R. James. Biography Buhle was born in Champaign, Illinois, on September 27, 1944. His mother was a registered nurse with the maiden name of Pearle Drake. His father, Merlyn Buhle, was a geologist. On December 30, 1963, Paul Buhle married Mari Jo Kupski, who later earned a doctorate in history and co-authored several works with Buhle. Buhle graduated from the University of Illinois in 1966, where he had been a spokesperson for the chapter of Students for a Democratic Society's antiwar activities. Kathleen Buhle, formerly known as Kathleen Biden, is an American non-profit executive and writer. Buhle is the former wife of Hunter Biden, a son of U.S. President Joe Biden. She is the author of the 2022 memoir ''If We Break: A Memoir of Marriage, Addiction, and Healing'', which details her life while married to him. Biography Buhle was born in Chicago, Illinois, into a working-class Catholic family. Her mother was a schoolteacher and her father was a salesman for the Chicago White Sox. She was educated in Catholic schools and graduated from St. Mary's University, Texas, with a degree in psychology. In July 1992, Buhle met Hunter Biden, son of then-Senator Joe Biden and Neilia Hunter Biden, while the two were working as Jesuit volunteers at a Catholic church in Portland, Oregon. Johann Gottlieb Buhle (; 29 September 1763 – 11 August 1821), German scholar and philosopher, was born at Brunswick and educated at Göttingen. He became professor of philosophy at Göttingen, Moscow (in 1804), and Brunswick. Of his numerous publications, the most important are the ''Lehrbuch der Geschichte der Philosophie und einer kritischen Literatur derselben'' (8 vols., 1796–1804), and ''Geschichte der neuern Philosophie seit der Epoche der Wiederherstellung der Wissenschaften'' (6 vols., 1800–1804). The latter, elaborate and well written, is lacking in critical appreciation and proportion; there are French and Italian translations. The Soil (band)
The Soil is a South African a cappella group from Soweto founded in 2003, consisting of the lead singer Ntsika Ngxanga, beatboxer Luphindo, and vocalist Buhlebendalo Mda. The band eponymous debut LP ''The Soil'' (2011), which became certified platinum by the Recording Industry of South Africa (RiSA). History 2003-2010: Formation Its inception came about in 2003 when all the members met in Tikelo Secondary School during jam sessions. Back then the group was known as 'Particles of the Soil' and consisted of more than 4 members. As years passed, some members departed due to other engagements.
