Buffy Coat
The buffy coat is the fraction of an anticoagulated blood sample that contains most of the white blood cells and platelets following centrifugation. It is rich in a number of immune cells including leukocytes, granulocytes. Description After centrifugation, one can distinguish a layer of clear fluid (the plasma), a layer of red fluid containing most of the red blood cells, and a thin layer in between. Composing less than 1% of the total volume of the blood sample, the buffy coat (so-called because it is usually buff in hue), contains most of the white blood cells and platelets. The buffy coat is usually whitish in color, but is sometimes green if the blood sample contains large amounts of neutrophils, which are high in green-colored myeloperoxidase. Buffy (color)
Buff (latin ''bubalinus'') is a light brownish yellow, ochreous colour, typical of buff leather. Buff is a mixture of yellow ochre and white: two parts of white lead and one part of yellow ochre produces a good buff, or white lead may be tinted with French ochre alone. As an RYB quaternary colour, it is the colour produced by an equal mix of the tertiary colours citron and russet. Etymology The first recorded use of the word ''buff'' to describe a colour was in ''The London Gazette'' of 1686, describing a uniform to be "...a Red Coat with a Buff-colour'd lining". It referred to the colour of undyed buffalo leather, such as soldiers wore as some protection: an eyewitness to the death in the Battle of Edgehill (1642) of Sir Edmund Verney noted "he would neither put on arms rmouror buff coat the day of the battle". Such buff leather was suitable for ''buffing'' or serving as a ''buffer'' between polished objects. It is not clear which bovine "''buffalo''" referred t ...

Buffy (album)
''Buffy'' is the tenth album by Buffy Sainte-Marie and her first after leaving Vanguard Records, with whom her relationship had been strained for several albums. Despite being on a different label from its predecessor '' Quiet Places'', ''Buffy'' was recorded with essentially the same personnel in Norbert Putnam on bass, David Briggs on keyboards, Kenny Malone on drums and the Memphis Horns. Together, these gave a sound far removed from her initial folk roots and much closer to ordinary rock. Indeed, ''Buffy'' was recorded at much the same time and place as ''Quiet Places'' and no label took it up until her last Vanguard recordings had been released. Despite ''Buffy'' commanding a high price tag upon completion, MCA did little to promote it. Very few music magazines ever bothered to review it and ''Buffy'' was out of print as early as 1978. The album cover caused MCA a public relations problem. Buffy posed with an exposed breast and refused to have it covered or censored. This ...

Motley's Crew
''Motley's Crew'' was an American newspaper comic strip by Ben Templeton and Tom Forman with satirical social commentary. With readership spread among 250 newspapers in the United States alone, the comic strip acquired a highly devoted but relatively small group of fans during its 23 years of operation. The comic strip, in general, was about a blue-collar worker named Mike Motley and his wife Mabel Motley. Truman Motley (Mike and Mabel's son) eventually fell in love and married a woman named Tacoma. From that marriage came two sons. Mabel's older brother Abel was often collaborating with his wife Buffy. Her role in being the middleman in the "friendly rivalry" between her brother Abel and her husband Mike is ultimately cancelled out by his mutual respect of both Abel and Buffy; they have a desire to visit Mabel on an occasional basis. According to a 1997 comics poll conducted by the New York Daily News, ''Motley's Crew'' was elected as the 28th most favorite comic strip among r ...
