Buffet Hotel
''Buffet Hotel'' is the twenty-seventh studio album by American singer-songwriter Jimmy Buffett, released on December 8, 2009. On October 27, 2009, it was officially posted on the Margaritaville homepage as well on the Mailboat Records homepage. It is the follow-up to ''Take the Weather with You'' (2006). While making the album, Buffett employed techniques from earlier albums, such as recording later at night after surfing; this resulted in a more laid-back feel. The name of the album comes from a building in Bamako, Mali, which Buffett visited during the Festival au Désert. James William Buffett (born December 25, 1946) is an American singer-songwriter, musician, author, and businessman. He is best known for his music, which often portrays an "island escapism" lifestyle. Together with his Coral Reefer Band, Buffett has recorded hit songs including "Margaritaville" (ranked 234th on the Recording Industry Association of America's list of "Songs of the Century") and "Come Monday". William Adams Kimbrough (born May 1, 1964) is an American singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer based in Nashville, Tennessee. Biography Kimbrough was born in Mobile, Alabama, and started his musical career as a founding member of Will & the Bushmen, a popular college band in the eighties that produced a handful of albums and singles and made it to MTV. He then went on to form the Bis-Quits with long-time friend Tommy Meyer. The Bis-quits produced an eponymous album which was released on John Prine’s Oh Boy Records label. James Ridout "Jesse" Winchester Jr. (May 17, 1944 – April 11, 2014) was an American-Canadian musician and songwriter. He was born and raised in the southern United States. Opposed to the Vietnam War, he moved to Canada in 1967 to avoid being drafted into the US military while the US engaged in the Vietnam War and began his career as a solo artist. Tommy Womack (born November 20, 1962 in Sturgis, Kentucky) is an American singer-songwriter and author. Career Early endeavors Womack played with the band Government Cheese from 1985 to 1992. He wrote an engaging memoir about this experience called ''Cheese Chronicles: The True Story of a Rock 'n Roll Band You Never Heard Of''. It was originally published in 1995 and its reputation grew enough to warrant multiple printings. Festival Au Désert
The Festival au désert (Festival in the Desert) was an annual concert in Mali, showcasing traditional Tuareg music as well as music from around the world between 2001 and 2012. It was founded and directed by Manny Ansar, and attracted thousands of visitors, bringing a huge boost to the economy. The first festival took place in 2001 in Tin Essako, then in Tessalit in 2002, and in Essakane from 2003 to 2009. From 2010 to 2012 it was held on the outskirts of Timbuktu. After an incursion of Timbuktu by Islamist militants in 2012, the festival was postponed, and has not been held since then since then due to security concerns.
