Buffalo Island Central High School
Buffalo Island Central High School (or BIC) is a comprehensive public high school serving students in grades nine through twelve in Monette, Arkansas, United States. It serves the Blue Island area in Craighead County and is the sole high school administered by the Buffalo Island Central School District with its main feeder school as Buffalo Island Central Junior High School. In 2010, two administrators were recognized as Administrators of the Year by the Arkansas Scholastic Press Association (ASPA). Monette is a city in Craighead County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 1,506 at the 2020 census. History On December 10, 2021, a large and violent EF4 tornado part of a large tornado outbreak struck Monette. One person was killed at a nursing home on the north side of town. Geography Monette is located in eastern Craighead County at (35.890969, -90.344247). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of , of which , or 0.19%, is water. Ecologically, Monette is located within the St. Francis Lowlands ecoregion within the larger Mississippi Alluvial Plain.
