Buffalo High School, also known as Independent School District #1 and Buffalo Elementary School, is an historic building located in Buffalo, Iowa, United States. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2005. History Buffalo was the first settlement in Scott County to incorporate in 1836. with The first school building in the town was constructed three years later. The first school located at Fourth and Washington Streets was built in 1850. Ten years later Buffalo voted to become an independent school district. Buffalo Township was divided into seven independent school districts. The district that served the town of Buffalo was Independent School District #1. In 1865 they built a two-story frame school building on Fourth Street. By 1894 the town had grown to 500 people and the school building had become overcrowded. There are three communities that contribute students: Buffalo, Minnesota, Hanover, Minnesota, and Montrose, Minnesota, which has helped BHS grow into a large school of 2,145 students starting in the 2022-23 school year, with a staff of approximately 400. Buffalo High School is a high school in Buffalo, West Virginia, United States, serving the northern part of Putnam County, including Eleanor. It is a part of Putnam County Schools. The school colors are blue and gold, and the athletic mascot and nickname are the Bison. Sometimes sports scores refer to the school as "Buffalo-Putnam" or "Buffalo of Putnam" because there used to be another Buffalo High School in Wayne County, but this practice fell into disuse after Buffalo-Wayne High School was consolidated with Vinson High School and Ceredo-Kenova High School to form Spring Valley High School for the 1999 academic year.
