Budhigandaki Hydroelectric Project
The Budhi Gandaki Hydroelectric Project is a proposed hydroelectric power plant in Nepal, to be developed by Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA). This storage hydropower plant is to be located on the Budhi Gandaki River, approximately 2 km upstream of its confluence with Trishuli River, about 55 km west of Kathmandu (80 km by road). With its planned installed capacity of 1,200 MW, it is the largest hydropower project in Nepal (before 900 MW Upper Karnali and Arun III projects), being sometimes considered a national pride. The 225 meters high dam will also be one of the highest in the country. Aside from the dam, a 225 km long ring road will be built all around the future reservoir, which may also serve as a tourist attraction. The site has been identified as early as in the late 1970s. Arun III
Arun III is a hydro-electric project under construction on the Arun River in Sankhuwasabha District of Province 1, Nepal. The project is of 900 megawatts capacity and will be the largest hydropower plant in South Asia. It is constructed by SJVN Arun III Power Development Company Private Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of SJVN Ltd. The estimated cost is US$1.6 billion including $156 million to develop the transmission line. It will generate about 4,018.87 million units of electricity annually. In February 2020, financial closure was done by the governments of India and Nepal. The project is constructed on a build-own-operate and transfer (BOOT) basis. Mount Everest (; Tibetan: ''Chomolungma'' ; ) is Earth's highest mountain above sea level, located in the Mahalangur Himal sub-range of the Himalayas. Yuba Raj Khatiwada
Yuba Raj Khatiwada (; born 14 August 1956) is a former Nepali politician and economist who has served as the Ambassador of Nepal to the United States since 17 February 2021. As the residential ambassador of Nepal to the US, he was also the non-residential ambassador to Panama, Costa Rica, Mexico, El Salvador, Honduras, and Guatemala and was entitled to look after the affairs related to the World Bank, IMF, and the World Bank Group (IBRD, IDA, IFC, MIGA and ICSID). Upper Karnali Hydropower Project
The Upper Karnali Storage Hydropower Project is a proposed run-of-the-river hydroelectric plant on the Karnali river in Nepal. It will have an installed capacity of 900 MW, making it the largest hydropower plant in Nepal when achieved. However, most of the generated power is set to be exported to both Bangladesh (about 500 MW) and India (another 292 MW), via a 400 kV double circuit transmission line, with the only remaining 108 MW of total power dedicated to local consumption. First planned in the 1990s as a smaller-scale 240 MW facility, the current 900 MW design was approved in 2008. A much larger 4,180 MW generation eventuality was identified on the same site during the feasibility studies, but this option was not selected.
