Buddy's Day Out
''Buddy's Day Out'' is a 1933 Warner Bros. '' Looney Tunes'' cartoon, directed by Tom Palmer. The short was released in theaters on September 9, 1933, premiering with '' Goodbye Again'', and was the first cartoon to feature Buddy, the second star of the series who was created by Earl Duvall. A former Disney animator, Palmer was shortly thereafter fired from the studio. This short was the first cartoon produced by Leon Schlesinger Productions. Summary Cookie is giving her baby brother Elmer a bath, while Buddy washes his car with a hose. Buddy's dog Happy grabs the hose and is tossed around by the water pressure. Cookie puts on makeup and yells to Buddy that she is ready. Buddy starts his car with a crank starter, but when the car starts it runs off unattended through the neighborhood. Tom Palmer (animator)
Anthony Pipolo, known professionally as Tom Palmer was an Italian-American animator and short film director who was active in the 1930s and worked at several animation studios. He was born with the surname of "Pipolo" but changed his name to Palmer. One of his brothers, Frank Pipolo, was a decorated New York City police officer. Career Born in New York City, Palmer's first animation credits occurred at the Winkler Studio in 1928 which made Oswald the Lucky Rabbit cartoons. Palmer moved over to Universal Pictures cartoon studio run by Walter Lantz which took over the Oswald series in 1929. By the early 1930s, he was working at Walt Disney Productions. He was lured by Leon Schlesinger to work as an animation director at his newly formed Leon Schlesinger Productions animation studio which made cartoons for Warner Bros. Bob Clampett
Robert Emerson Clampett Sr. (May 8, 1913 – May 2, 1984) was an American animator, director, producer and puppeteer. He was best known for his work on the '' Looney Tunes'' animated series from Warner Bros. as well as the television shows ''Time for Beany'' and ''Beany and Cecil''. He was born and raised not far from Hollywood and, early in life, showed an interest in animation and puppetry. After leaving high school a few months shy of graduating in 1931, he joined the team at Harman-Ising Productions and began working on the studio's newest short subjects, ''Looney Tunes'' and '' Merrie Melodies''. Clampett was promoted to a directorial position in 1937. During his 15 years at the studio, he directed 84 cartoons later deemed classic, and designed some of the studio's most famous characters, including Porky Pig, Daffy Duck and Tweety. ''History Detectives'' is a documentary television series on Public Broadcasting Service, PBS. It features investigations made by members of a small team of researchers to identify and/or authenticate items which may have historical significance or connections to important historical events, and to answer specific questions brought to them about these artifacts. ''Buddy's Circus'' is a 1934 Warner Bros. ''Looney Tunes'' cartoon, directed by Jack King. The short was released on November 8, 1934, and stars Buddy, the second star of the series. Summary We come to a balloon, in which float Buddy and several animals, including an elephant, a lion, and a bear. Buddy looks through a spy-glass to see a sign that says "Buddy's Circus will arrive at 2:00 P.M." Checking his watch, Buddy sees that the time is nigh: he releases from his arms a gaggle of stakes, which land perfectly in a circle completed by the sign, and which are hammered into the earth by an octopus, which then is flattened by the landing balloon, which seamlessly morphs into a circus tent. Two men set up walls outside the tent, and one of them begins welcoming patrons to the show.
