Budapesti Atlétikai Klub, also known as BAK, is a Hungarian football club from the town of Budapest that competes in the BLSZ III., url=http://budapesti-atletikai-klub.hu History Budapesti Atlétikai Klub was founded in 1900 by a group of athletes who had decided to leave their previous sports club MTK Budapest because, at that time, there was no football section at MTK. It debuted in the 1906–07 season of the Hungarian League and finished fourth. The club remained in the top flight for 15 years, before being relegated in 1921. BAK eventually folded in 1947. Reforming of the club The club was reformed for the first time in more than 70 years ahead of the 2018/19 season by a group of local enthusiasts inspired by the story of one of BAK's most famous former players, Ernő Egri Erbstein, who played for the original club from 1916 to 1924. Szőnyi úti Stadion is a sports stadium in Zugló, Budapest, Hungary. The stadium is home to the association football side BVSC Budapest. The stadium has a capacity of 12,000. History On 2 April 2015, three new artificial pitches were inaugurated at the sports centre of the club. One of the pitches is 40 x 60 metres and the two other pitches are 22 x 40 metres in size. The Hungarian Cup ( hu, Magyar Kupa) is the Hungarian cup competition for football clubs. It was started by the Hungarian Football Association, the ''Magyar Labdarúgó Szövetség,'' in 1909, eight years after the commencement of the Hungarian League ( hu, Nemzeti Bajnokság). Besides all of the professional clubs of Hungary numerous amateur sides take part every year. These have to qualify through local cup competitions. The most successful participant in the Magyar Kupa has been Ferencváros with 24 wins, followed by local rivals MTK with 12 cups. The current holder is Ferencváros, having won their 24th title in 2022. Zugló (german: Lerchenfeld) is the official name of the 14th district of Budapest ( hu, Budapest XIV. kerülete), the capital of Hungary. It is a large and mixed neighborhood, with communist era style highrise apartments sprinkled between decently kept one house residential streets. Ernő Egri Erbstein (''Hungarian: Erbstein Ernő''), also known as Ernest and Ernesto Erbstein (13 May 18984 May 1949), was a Hungarian football player manager from Nagyvárad, now known as Oradea, in Romania. He carried out his footballing activities in several countries, he was most noted for his association with Italian football. Biography Erbstein carried out the majority of his playing career with Budapesti AK, with whom he spent almost a decade, either side of a brief spell with Hakoah Arad in 1922.
