Buckland River
The Buckland River (''Kaŋiq'' in Inupiaq) is a stream, long, in the U.S. state of Alaska. It flows northwest to the Chukchi Sea at Eschscholtz Bay, southwest of Selawik in the Northwest Arctic Borough. Naval officer Frederick William Beechey named the river in 1826 for a geology professor at the University of Oxford in England. Other 19th-century names for the river included Russian translations of the Inuit as ''Kanyk'' and the Koyukon Indian as ''Kotsokhotana.'' Another translation of the Inuit was ''Kung-uk.'' Buckland Railway Station
Buckland railway station was a station on the North Island Main Trunk in New Zealand, serving the Buckland settlement south of Pukekohe. Buckland was initially a flag station, south of Auckland. The station opened on 20 May 1875, closed to goods on 19 December 1954, and to passengers and all traffic on 2 February 1969. It was only once considered important enough to be included in the annual returns of stations. History By September 1878 Bucklands had a 6th class passenger station and in 1879 a stationmaster's house and x goods shed were added. There was also a shelter shed, passenger platform, cart approach to platform, loading bank, cattle yards, urinals and a passing loop for 34 wagons. Buckland Station
Buckland Station, a stagecoach station and hotel near Stagecoach, Nevada, was built c. 1870 by Samuel Buckland, proprietor (who settled here in 1859), replaced a previous stage station. It was built with simplified Greek Revival architecture, Greek Revival style. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) in 1997. The existing Buckland building was built mostly of salvaged lumber from dismantling Ft. Churchill. Buckland Station formerly existed as a Pony Express station and as an emigrant stop and to serve an early bridge over the Carson River. When listed on the NRHP, the building had just been purchased by the state of Nevada, which has continuing plans for its rehabilitation. Buckland in the parish of Braunton, North Devon, England, is an ancient historic estate purchased in 1319 by Godfrey II de Incledene of Incledon, the adjoining estate about 1/2 mile to the north-west, whose family (later ''Incledon''), is first recorded in 1160. It is situated half a mile north-west of St Brannock's Church in Braunton. Buckland Hill
Buckland Hill is a low hill in the Brecon Beacons National Park in the county of Powys in Wales. Sitting transversely across the Usk valley between the river and the village of Bwlch, it provides excellent panoramic views down the valley and across to the Black Mountains. The summit at 316m above sea level is marked by an OS trig point though this is now within a dense conifer plantation and so no longer affords any outward views. Buckland Hall sits at the foot of the hill's afforested northwestern side. Geology The upper parts of the hill are formed from sandstones and mudstones of the Brownstones Formation of the Old Red Sandstone laid down during the lower Devonian Period. Small outcrops of this sandstone have been quarried on the hills northeastern flanks. Buckland is in the Franklin ward of Auckland Regional Council, on the south-east side of Pukekohe, between Pukekohe and Tuakau, and on the northern boundary of Waikato District. It is part of the Pukekohe urban area. Buckland is probably named after a local land owner. Monte Buckland is a prominent peak in Alberto de Agostini National Park, in the Chilean portion of Tierra del Fuego. It towers over a narrow peninsula between Agostini Fjord and Fitton bay, which is an eastward projection of the Gabriel Channel, which separates Dawson Island from Isla Grande de Tierra del Fuego.
