Buckinghamshire Golf Club, containing the Denham Court Mansion, is a golf club near Denham, Buckinghamshire, England, United Kingdom. It is accessed via Denham Country Drive off the M40 motorway near the junction with the M25 motorway. The golf course and surroundings form part of the Denham Country Park, an area which the poet John Dryden called "one of the most delicious spots in England". The mansion is set in a course of 226 acres, designed by the former Ryder Cup captain John Jacobs. The golf club was established in 1992. The River Misbourne flows through the course. River Misbourne
The River Misbourne rises in a field on the outskirts of Great Missenden in Buckinghamshire, passing through Little Missenden, Old Amersham, Chalfont St Giles, Chalfont St Peter and under the Chiltern railway line and the M25 motorway to its confluence with the River Colne just north of where the Colne is crossed by Western Avenue, the A40 road. It falls by around in the course of its length. Etymology The name ''Misbourne'' is first attested, in the form ''Misseburne'', in 1407. The ''-bourne'' element is agreed to derive from Old English ''burna'' ('stream, river'), but the etymology of the first element is uncertain. It is thought to occur in the names of both Great and Little Missenden, and also in the Tring place-name Miswell. Ladies European Tour
The Ladies European Tour is a professional golf tour for women which was founded in 1978. It is based at Buckinghamshire Golf Club near London in England. Like many UK-based sports organisations it is a company limited by guarantee, a legal structure which enables it to focus on maximising returns to its members through prize money, rather than on making profits for investors. The tour is run by a Board of Directors and a Players' Council. Most of the players on the tour are European, with members from more than 40 countries internationally. Colin Stuart Montgomerie, Order of the British Empire, OBE (born 23 June 1963) is a Scotland, Scottish professional golfer. He has won a record eight European Tour PGA European Tour#Order of Merit winners, Order of Merit titles, including a streak of seven consecutively from 1993 to 1999. He has won 31 European Tour events, the most of any British player, placing him fourth on the List of golfers with most European Tour wins, all-time list of golfers with most European Tour victories. Andersen Consulting World Championship Of Golf
The Andersen Consulting World Championship of Golf was a 32-man match play golf tournament played from 1995 to 1998. It was the predecessor tournament to the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship which started in 1999. The top eight players available from four different regions, the United States, Europe, Japan, and the "Rest of the World", were selected from the Sony Rankings. Each region played three rounds of match play to determine the regional winner to send to the finals. The regional tournaments were played at various times (February to August) throughout the year at different courses in the U.S., Europe, and Japan. The semi-finals and finals were played in late December 1995 and early January in 1997 and 1998 at the Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona, United States. European Seniors Tour
The Legends Tour is the current branding of the European Senior Tour, a professional tour for male golfers aged 50 and over, run by the PGA European Tour. The tour was branded as the Staysure Tour for the 2018 and 2019 seasons after UK-based insurance company Staysure became the first-ever title sponsors of the senior tour in December 2017. The tour was relaunched as the Legends Tour in 2020, after Ryan Howsam, founder and owner of Staysure, took majority ownership in a joint venture with the European Tour. John Jacobs (English Golfer)
John Robert Maurice Jacobs, OBE (14 March 1925 – 13 January 2017) was an English professional golfer, coach, entrepreneur, writer and administrator. He was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2000. Early life Jacobs was born in Woodsetts, Yorkshire, the son of Robert "Bob" Jacobs (1880–1934), the professional at Lindrick Golf Club. Robert was born in Brancaster, Norfolk, and had become an assistant professional at the nearby Royal West Norfolk Golf Club. Robert had been the professional at Lindrick since 1919, having been at Bungay & Waveney Golf Club in Norfolk and Bedford Golf Club before World War I. During the war Robert served in the 24th Battalion Royal Fusiliers, the 2nd Sportsman's Battalion. He was badly gassed during the war, never fully recovered and committed suicide in December 1934 when Jacobs was nine years old. Jacobs's mother Vivian was the stewardess at Lindrick.
