Buckhorn High School (Alabama)
Buckhorn High School is a public high school in New Market, Alabama, United States. Buckhorn received the Alabama Department of Education’s National Blue Ribbon in 2001. Buckhorn is located at the site of the American Civil War Skirmish of Buckhorn Tavern, fought on October 12, 1863, between General Phillip D. Roddey's Alabama Cavalry Brigade and a Union cavalry brigade commanded by General Robert Mitchell. History By tradition, the tavern took its name "Buckhorn" in 1858 when William L. Fanning killed a buck near the site and presented its antlers to the innkeeper. The antlers are now displayed at Buckhorn High School. The Madison County Board of Education bought land on November 19, 1956, from Annie Bruce Walker Short to construct a school. The 2017 Major League Baseball (MLB) First-Year Player Draft began on June 12, 2017. The draft assigned amateur baseball players to MLB teams. Kyle Wright (baseball)
Kyle Hardy Wright (born October 2, 1995) is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Atlanta Braves of Major League Baseball (MLB). He played college baseball at Vanderbilt University. The Braves selected Wright with the fifth overall selection of the 2017 Major League Baseball draft. He made his major league debut in 2018. The Springs (band)
The Springs is an American country music husband/wife duo composed of Stewart Halcomb from Enterprise, Alabama (male vocals) and Holly Halcomb from New Market, Alabama (female vocals). The Springs have now moved to Nashville. Holly and Stewart met at the world-famous The Bluebird Cafe shortly after each of them moved to Nashville in 2011 and were later engaged there in 2013. The 1995 Special Olympics World Summer Games were held in New Haven, Connecticut, United States on July 1–9, 1995. More than 7,000 athletes from 143 countries gathered for competition in 21 sports. The opening and closing ceremonies were held in the Yale Bowl, and various events were held around the New Haven area, including various events held in West Haven, Connecticut. Khari Thomas Blasingame (born July 1, 1996) is an American football fullback for the Chicago Bears of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Vanderbilt, and was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Minnesota Vikings in 2019. High school career Blasingame was a two-year captain and two-way starter at safety and running back for Buckhorn High School in Huntsville, Alabama.
