David Buck
David Keith Rodney Buck (17 October 1933 – 27 January 1989) was an English actor. Buck was born in London, the son of Joseph Buck and Enid Marguerite (née Webb). He starred in many television productions from 1959 until 1989. One of his earlier roles was that of Horatio Hornblower in an episode entitled "Hornblower" (1963), in the Alcoa Premiere TV series. He played Winston Smith in ''Theatre 625: The World of George Orwell: 1984'' (1965), a remake of Nigel Kneale's adaptation of the novel. In the first two series of the ITV horror and supernatural anthology series ''Mystery and Imagination'' (1966–68) he played the series narrator Richard Beckett (from Sheridan Le Fanu's story "The Flying Dragon") whose character also became involved in some of the other stories adapted. Tim Buck
Timothy Buck (January 6, 1891 – March 11, 1973) was the general secretary of the Communist Party of Canada (known as the Labor-Progressive Party from 1943 to 1959) from 1929 until 1962. Together with Ernst Thälmann of Germany, Maurice Thorez of France, Palmiro Togliatti of Italy, Earl Browder of the United States, and Harry Pollitt of Great Britain, Buck was one of the top leaders of the Joseph Stalin-era Communist International. Early life and career A machinist by trade, Buck was born in Beccles, England, and emigrated to Canada in 1910 reputedly because it was cheaper to book steamship passage to Canada than to Australia. Sir Peter Henry Buck (ca. October 1877 – 1 December 1951), also known as Te Rangi Hīroa or Te Rangihīroa, was a New Zealand doctor, military leader, health administrator, politician, anthropologist and museum director. He was a prominent member of Ngāti Mutunga, his mother's Māori iwi. Early life Peter Buck was born in Urenui, New Zealand, the only child of Anglo-Irish immigrant William Henry Buck and Rina, a Māori woman. William's wife Ngarongo-ki-tua had been unable to have children and, in line with Māori custom, Rina, one of Ngarongo's relatives, became part of the household and produced a child for the couple. Rina died soon after Peter was born, and Ngarongo raised him as her own. Sir Peter Buck (died 1625) was an English mayor and naval official. Career In the 1590s, Buck was Mayor of Rochester and Clerk of the Cheque at Chatham Dockyard. Eastgate House, a Grade I listed Elizabethan townhouse in Rochester, Kent, was built for him. From 1596, he held the post of Clerk of the Navy (also known as Clerk of the ships) and was knighted by James I in 1603. He also served as Secretary to Algernon Percy, Earl of Northumberland and Lord High Admiral. (born John Richbourg, August 20, 1910 - February 15, 1986) was an American radio disc jockey who attained fame in the 1950s and 1960s for playing rhythm and blues music on Nashville radio station WLAC. He was also a notable record producer and artist manager. Richbourg was arguably the most popular and charismatic of the four announcers at WLAC who showcased popular African-American music in nightly programs from the late 1940s to the early 1970s. Frank Forrest Buck (born September 26, 1943, in Trousdale County) was a Tennessee politician and a member of the Tennessee House of Representatives for the 40th district, which is composed of DeKalb, Smith, and Macon counties. He was the son of John and Georgia Baird Buck. He has one brother, John William Buck. His father, John, started out as a sharecropper and eventually owned over of land in Wilson, Smith, and Trousdale counties. Neither of his parents completed the eighth grade, as they dropped out of school to work in the Great Depression. His father was stricken with polio while Buck was at Lebanon High School. The Indian Civil Service (ICS), officially known as the Imperial Civil Service, was the higher civil service of the British Empire in India during British rule in the period between 1858 and 1947. Its members ruled over more than 300 million people in the Presidencies and provinces of British India and were ultimately responsible for overseeing all government activity in the 250 districts that comprised British India. Sir Edward Charles Buck, KCSI (1838 – 6 July 1916) was a British civil servant who served in the Indian Civil Service and came to be known as the "Grand Old Man" of Indian agriculture. Family and education Buck was the son of Zechariah Buck, organist and master of the choristers at Norwich Cathedral for 58 years, and his second wife, Lucy Holloway. He was educated in Norwich and at Oakham School and later studied at Clare College, Cambridge, receiving a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree in 1862. In 1886, he was awarded an honorary Doctor of Law (LL.D.) degree, and in 1898 he became an honorary Fellow of Clare College.
