Norman Bruce Buchanan, (September 16, 1915 – June 27, 2008) was a furniture retailer and political figure in the Province of New Brunswick, Canada. He represented Charlotte County in the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick as a Progressive Conservative member from 1952 to 1960. Buchanan was born in St. Stephen, New Brunswick, the son of Walter Bruce Buchanan and Leola Amelia McWin. He was educated at the University of New Brunswick and the Royal Military College of Canada. A gifted athlete, Buchanan was a pitcher on the 1936 St. Croixs baseball team that won the New Brunswick Senior Baseball League Championship and the Maritime Senior Baseball Championship. He worked in the family's retail furniture business until the outbreak of World War II. He served overseas in the Royal Canadian Army, rising to the rank of Major. Sir James Buchanan, 2nd Baronet DL (7 August 1840 – 16 October 1901) was a British Royal Navy officer and Deputy Lieutenant of Stirlingshire. Family Buchanan was born on 7 August 1840, the son of Rt. Hon. Sir Andrew Buchanan, 1st Baronet and Frances Katharine Mellish. Lieutenant Archibald Buchanan (born October 5, 1892, date of death unknown) was a World War I flying ace credited with seven aerial victories. Buchanan voyaged to England to join the Royal Naval Air Service. The RNAS and the Royal Flying Corps were amalgamated into the Royal Air Force before Buchanan earned his pilot's wings, but he was assigned to a former RNAS squadron, No. 210. Buchanan began his victory string as a balloon buster on 30 June 1918, when he destroyed an enemy observation balloon northeast of Estaires. His second win, on 20 July, was shared with Captain Harold Mellings. Between 31 July and 29 September, he scored five more wins over enemy fighter planes; his final summary was victory over five Fokker D.VIIs, a Pfalz D.III, and a balloon. The Blue Nile
The Blue Nile was a Scottish band which originated in Glasgow. The group's early music was built heavily on synthesizers and electronic instrumentation and percussion, although later works featured guitar more prominently. Following early championing by established artists such as Rickie Lee Jones and Peter Gabriel (the band later worked with both acts), the Blue Nile gained critical acclaim, particularly for its first two albums ''A Walk Across the Rooftops'' and ''Hats (album), Hats'', and some commercial success in both the UK and the US, which led to the band working with a wide range of musicians from the late 1980s onwards. The Blue Nile's highest chart placement came when "Tinseltown in the Rain" reached No. 28 in the Netherlands in 1984, their only Dutch charting song. Ruth Buchanan (born 1980) is a contemporary New Zealand artist of Te Āti Awa, Taranaki (iwi), Taranaki, and European decent. Buchanan was born in New Plymouth and grew up in Wellington. She lives and works in Berlin. Education Buchanan graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Elam School of Fine Arts, Auckland, in 2002. She completed a Master of Fine Arts at the Piet Zwart Institute, Rotterdam, Netherlands in 2007. From 2008-09 she was a researcher at the Jan Van Eyck Academie, Jan van Eyck Academie in Maastricht, Netherlands.
