Bubikon is a railway station in the Swiss canton of Zurich and municipality of Bubikon. The station is located on the Wallisellen to Uster and Rapperswil railway line. Bubikon
Bubikon is a municipality in the district of Hinwil in the canton of Zürich in Switzerland. History Some names of localities have Celtic (''Mürg'') origins, others (''Tafleten'', ''Kammern'', ''Zell'') may have Roman origins. Fiefs of the St. Gallen Abbey are first mentioned around 744 in ''Berlikon'' (''Perolvinchova''), Bubikon is first mentioned in 811 as ''Puapinchova''. The Ritterhaus Bubikon, a Knights Hospitaller commandry, was given by the Counts of Toggenburg and Counts of Rapperswil between 1191 and 1198. The ZVV (German abbreviation for Zürcher Verkehrsverbund, translated into English as Zürich Transport Network or Zürich Traffic Network) is a public transportation system. It combines rail, bus, tram, trolleybus, lake boat, cable car and other services in the Swiss canton of Zürich (and including Rapperswil-Jona (SG), Pfäffikon SZ and spots outside of the canton) integrating them into a single fare network with coordinated timetables. Bauma
The bauma (International Trade Fair for Construction Machinery, Building Material Machines, Mining Machines, Construction Vehicles and Construction Equipment) is the world's largest trade fair in the construction industry. Uerikon (also spelled Ürikon) is a village near Rapperswil, Switzerland. Geography Uerikon is located on the north bank of the Zürichsee (Lake Zürich) in the Pfannenstiel region and is part of the political municipality of Stäfa. In the local dialect it is called ''Ürike''. Uerikon–Bauma Railway
The Uerikon–Bauma railway (german: Uerikon-Bauma-Bahn, UeBB) is a railway which formerly linked Uerikon, Hombrechtikon, Bubikon, Hinwil, Bäretswil and Bauma in the Swiss canton of Zurich. The line from Uerikon to Hinwil was closed in 1948, and little now remains other than a freight siding in the Bubikon area. From Hinwil to Bauma the line has been preserved by the Dampfbahn-Verein Zürcher Oberland (DVZO) and sees heritage railway services. History The Uerikon to Bauma railway opened in 1901 and was the brain child of Adolf Guyer-Zeller, who would become famous as the builder of the Jungfrau Railway. The line provided a link between Uerikon, on the shores of Lake Zurich, and the Zürcher Oberland, including the town of Bäretswil where he owned a textile mill. Zürich S-Bahn
