Bub (film)
''Bub'' ( en, Father) is an Indian film in Kashmiri language directed by Jyoti Sarup. It was released in Jammu on 1 December 2001. It is the third Kashmiri film, the preceding one was released 38 years previously. The film won the Nargis Dutt Award for Best Feature Film on National Integration at the 49th National Film Awards. The film is based on the Wandhama Massacre, where several Kashmiri Pandits were killed by militants before Republic Day on 26 January and focuses on a family that was massacred. Cast * K. K. Jyoti Sarup (born 20 August 1954 in New Delhi) is a National Award winning Indian film/serial director and producer, most known for directing the television series, '' Buniyaad'', and films like ''Chorni'' (1982) and '' Bub''(2001) . Biography An engineer from Govt Engineering College Ujjain, by education, he received a Diploma from NSD and FTII for Acting. He came to Mumbai (then Bombay) in 1978 to become an actor. Not belonging to a film background, he had to start from scratch. He started off as a Chief Assistant Director to Late Mr. Ramanand Sagar. After acting in a few films & television serials and being the Chief Assisting to a few directors of that time, e.g.: Late Shri Atma Ram and Late Shri Shakti Samata, he found himself more suited behind the camera. The National Film Awards is the most prominent film award ceremony in India. Kashmiri Pandits
The Kashmiri Pandits (also known as Kashmiri Brahmins) are a group of Kashmiri Hindus and a part of the larger Saraswat Brahmin community of India. They belong to the Pancha-Gauda, Pancha Gauda Brahmin group from the Kashmir Valley, a mountainous region located within the Indian union territory of Jammu and Kashmir (union territory), Jammu and Kashmir. Virendra Razdan (1951 – 13 June 2003) was an Indian actor. Early Life Virendra Razdan was born on 6 March 1951 to a middle class Brahmin family at Srinagar, Kashmir. His father Govind Razdan was a Sufi Musician. He aspired to become an actor and worked with few theatre groups in his teen age. He also served as Radio Jockey at Radio Kashmir during early 70’s. It was during 1972 at a mere age of 21 Years, he applied and was selected for a 3 Year Degree course into Acting and Theatre under the guidance of Dr. Ibrahim Alkazi at National School of Drama (NSD) & one year Diploma (Post Grad) course from FTII, Pune.
