	Brynjólfur Bjarnason Brynjólfur Bjarnason (26 May 1898 – 16 April 1989) was an Icelandic communist politician and philosopher. Biography Bjarnason was born in Hæli in Gnúpverjahreppur. In 1918 he started studying philosophy at the University of Copenhagen, graduating with a bachelor's degree in 1919. He continued to study natural sciences at the same university until 1922 but did not graduate, instead continuing his studies in philosophy at the Friedrich Wilhelm University in Berlin in 1923–1924. After returning to Iceland, he worked as a teacher from 1926. Bjarnason attended the 2nd Congress of the Comintern in Moscow in 1920 and the 5th Congress in 1924, as a representative of Iceland. In 1930, he became the chairman of the Communist Party of Iceland upon its founding. He remained in this position until the party merged into the People's Unity Party – Socialist Party in 1938. 	Brynjólfur Pétursson Brynjólfur Pétursson (15 April 1810 – 18 October 1851) was an Icelandic lawyer and government official. He was one of the '' Fjölnismenn'', a group of Icelandic intellectuals who spearheaded the revival of Icelandic national consciousness and gave rise to the Icelandic Independence Movement. Personal life Brynjólfur was born in Víðivellir in Skagafjörður and was one of the "Víðvellir brothers", the sons of profast Pétur Pétursson and his second wife, Þóra Brynjólfsdóttir. His brothers were Jón Pétursson, a judge, and Pétur Pétursson, a bishop. Brynjólfur died an unmarried man in Copenhagen in 1851, leaving no children. Education and career Brynjólfur graduated from Bessastaðir in 1828 and attained a degree in jurisprudence from the University of Copenhagen in 1837. 	Brynjólfur Sveinsson Brynjólfur Sveinsson (14 September 1605 – 5 August 1675) served as the Lutheran Bishop of the see of Skálholt in Iceland. His main influence has been on modern knowledge of Old Norse literature. Brynjólfur is also known for his support of the career of the Icelandic poet and hymn writer Hallgrímur Pétursson. Brynjólfur Sveinsson is currently pictured on the banknote. Brynjólfur was born in Önundarfjörður in the Westfjords of northwestern Iceland. He studied at the University of Copenhagen from 1624 to 1629 and was Provost of Roskilde University from 1632 to 1638.
