Brynithel RFC
Brynithel RFC is a rugby union club representing the village of Brynithel in Wales. Brynithel RFC is a member of the Welsh Rugby Union and is a feeder club for the Newport Gwent Dragons. Club history The club was formed on 1 December 1974 at the Mount Pleasant Inn, Brynithel, after a meeting of local men who were at the time playing for teams from the Mount Pleasant Inn and T9 face at Six Bells colliery. They played six matches at the end of the 1974/75 season captained by Robert Williams. The first official game was against Bargoed 2nd XV in which Brynithel opened the scoring but ended up being beaten by 50-5. The first full season for Brynithel was 1975/76 with 3 wins and 29 losses. However the club continued to prosper and its first taste of success came as they finished as runners up in the old second division of the Gwent Districts and qualified for a playoff against Hollybush RFC. Brynithel
Brynithel is a village in the Ebbw Valley in Blaenau Gwent. It belongs in the community of Llanhilleth. It is located south of Abertillery and north of Newport. The B4471 runs near to the village. The River Ebbw flows past the west of the village. Village today Facilities in Brynithel include Brynithel Community Centre, a convenience store, a playground, a Welsh Government funded Flying Start hub, a play area called The Eden Centre, an ATM, and the Mount Pleasant Inn. The Welsh Rugby Union Division Five East (also called the SWALEC Division Five East for sponsorship reasons) is a rugby union league in Wales. Competition format and sponsorship Competition There are 11 clubs in the WRU Division Five East. During the course of a season (which lasts from September to May) each club plays the others twice, once at their home ground and once at that of their opponents for a total of 20 games for each club, with a total of 110 games in each season. Teams receive four points for a win and two point for a draw, an additional bonus point is awarded to either team if they score four tries or more in a single match. No points are awarded for a loss though the losing team can gain a bonus point for finishing the match within seven points of the winning team.
