Bryan Waters
Bryan Waters (born 21 January 1938) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for Hawthorn in the Victorian Football League (VFL) during the 1950s. Waters originally played for the Dandenong Football Club in the Federal League, before joining Hawthorn in the VFL. He played with Hawthorn for three seasons, under the coaching of Jack Hale. After leaving the VFL, he returned to Dandenong, which was now playing in the Victorian Football Association, and won the 1959 J. J. Liston Trophy The J. J. Dandenong Football Club
Dandenong Football Club was an Australian rules football club which played in the Victorian Football Association (VFA). Based in the Melbourne suburb of Dandenong, the Redlegs wore navy blue and red as their club colours. Club history From 1953 to 1957 the club played in the Federal Football League. Success was immediate by winning the 1953 flag. Near success continued by being runner-up in 1954 and 1955, a third in 1956 and fifth in 1957. In all 72 wins compared to 25 losses and a draw. The Hawthorn Football Club, nicknamed the Hawks, is a professional Australian rules football club based in Mulgrave, Victoria, that competes in the Australian Football League (AFL). The club was founded in 1902 in the inner-east suburb of Hawthorn, making it the youngest Victorian-based team in the AFL. Australian football, also called Australian rules football or Aussie rules, or more simply football or footy, is a contact sport played between two teams of 18 players on an oval field, often a modified cricket ground. Points are scored by kicking the oval ball between the central goal posts (worth six points), or between a central and outer post (worth one point, otherwise known as a "behind"). Federal Football League
The Federal Football League was an Australian rules football competition in the south-eastern suburbs of Melbourne, Victoria, that was in existence from 1909 to 1981. It was regarded as one of the strongest metropolitan leagues in Melbourne and in the 1960s and it is said that Channel Seven were seeking to telecast league games on a Sunday. Jack Hale (Australian Footballer)
John Lachlan Hale (2 January 1913 – 25 June 2001) was an Australian rules footballer who played with Carlton in the VFL during the 1930s before becoming a coach. He married Jean Margaret Reynolds in 1940 and they stayed married until his death. Playing career Hale played in many positions during his career but was most notably a rover. He represented Victoria at the 1937 Perth Carnival as first rover, demoting the legendary Dick Reynolds to second rover. The following year he was a premiership player with Carlton in 1938. Unusually for his era, he sometimes took set shots with place kicks – albeit with limited success, his first place-kicked goal not coming until 1940. The Victorian Football League (VFL) is an Australian rules football league in Australia serving as one of the second-tier regional semi-professional competitions which sit underneath the fully professional Australian Football League (AFL). Terry Waters (14 December 1943 – 27 July 2020) was an Australian rules footballer who played with Collingwood in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Originally from Victorian Football Association (VFA) club Dandenong, Waters' transfer application to Collingwood was originally denied by Dandenong and he was required to go to the Supreme Court of Victoria to have writs issued to allow him to make his VFL debut in 1963. Waters was a versatile player who was originally used as a ruck/forward before moving into defence later in his career. He was known as a reliable mark of the ball in dry or wet conditions. He won the Copeland Trophy for being Collingwood's best and fairest player in 1966, was their leading goalkicker in 1963 and 1964 and earned All Australian selection for his performance at the 1969 Adelaide Carnival.
