Brunswick High School (Maine)
Brunswick High School is located at 116 Maquoit Rd in Brunswick, Maine, United States. It is a part of the Brunswick School Department. History Although a private school operated under the same name in the 1840s, Brunswick High School was founded as a public school in 1851Wheeler, 473-474 as a part of a school consolidation and restructuring effort. In its over 150-year history, the school has occupied three sites within Brunswick. The first high school was located within a larger school building at the corner of Federal and Green Streets (now 46 Federal Street). Hawthorne Elementary School was subsequently located at 46 Federal Street until its closure in 2010. Its most recent use is as the central office for the Brunswick School Department. Brunswick is a town in Cumberland County, Maine, United States. The population was 21,756 at the 2020 United States Census. Part of the Portland-South Portland-Biddeford metropolitan area, Brunswick is home to Bowdoin College, the Bowdoin International Music Festival, the Bowdoin College Museum of Art, the Peary-MacMillan Arctic Museum, and the Maine State Music Theatre. Edwin Herbert Hall (November 7, 1855 – November 20, 1938) was an American physicist, who discovered the eponymous Hall effect. Hall conducted thermoelectric research and also wrote numerous physics textbooks and laboratory manuals. Biography Hall was born in Gorham, Maine, U.S. Hall did his undergraduate work at Bowdoin College, Brunswick, Maine, graduating in 1875. He was the principal of Gould Academy in 1875–1876 and the principal of Brunswick High School in 1876–1877. Aly Spaltro, better known by her stage name Lady Lamb (formerly called Lady Lamb the Beekeeper) is an American songwriter and musician. Spaltro first began writing music in 2007 while working at Bart & Greg's DVD Explosion, the local video rental store in her hometown of Brunswick, Maine. She is a Brunswick High School graduate. Spaltro worked the closing shift, and would experiment with and record music all night into the morning. Matilda White Riley
Matilda White Riley (April 19, 1911 – November 14, 2004) was an American gerontologist who began working at Rutgers University as a research specialist before becoming a professor from 1950 to 1973. Here she wrote a textbook and discovered her interest in aging. In 1973, Riley became the first woman full professor at Bowdoin College, where she worked until 1981. She spent much of her career as a sociologist specializing in aging at the National Institute on Aging, part of the National Institutes of Health. Ralph Mims (born November 26, 1985) is an American professional basketball player. He is 6'2" and weighs 205 pounds. High school Mims scored 1,916 career points at Brunswick High School in Brunswick, Maine. A four-year starter, Mims dominated his competition at the Class A level (Maine's largest schools).
