Team Polti
Team Polti was an Italian professional cycling team. It became an independent team in 1994, after the separation of Lampre-Polti, and was active until 2000. Team Polti began in 1994 with Gianluigi Stanga as directeur sportif and Vittorio Algeri and Claudio Corti as managers. The team used Fausto Coppi bikes. Other directeur sportifs included Giosuè Zenoni, Antonio Bevilacqua and Giovanni Fidanza. Team Polti gave Richard Virenque a chance after he was ejected from the 1998 Tour de France and while maintaining his innocence, his former teammates at Festina admitted taking EPO. Virenque joined Team Polti for the 1999 and 2000 seasons where he won the Mountains classification at the 1999 and 2000 Tour de France. Festina was a former professional cycling team that was active in the professional peloton from 1989 to 2001. The team was sponsored by the Festina, Swiss watch manufacturer of the same name. History Beginnings The team first appeared as ''Lotus-Zahor'' but the following year, 1990, the team became ''Lotus-Festina''. Setmana Catalana De Ciclisme
The Catalan Cycling Week (''Setmana Catalana de Ciclisme'' in Catalan) was a multi-stage road bicycle race held in Catalonia, Spain. Held annually from 1963 until 2005, it was run as a 2.HC race on the UCI Europe Tour in the second half of March. The Setmana Catalana was discontinued in 2006 due to financial problems and is no longer on the UCI Calendar. Since 2010, the Volta a Catalunya, Catalonia's oldest existing cycling race, was moved to the calendar slot formerly held by the Setmana Catalana in late March. The first winner of the race was José Pérez-Francés in 1963.
